Has anyone tried this recipe?

I need a pb cake recipe - preferrably an easy one and not a pb and chocolate cake. This is for my grandmother's 81st birthday and she is a pb finatic! I pulled one off line over the weekend from the CMD website but it was terrible. I wasted an entire can of Jiff pb on it.

Thanks!
Debbie

Try:

www.recipezaar.com

They have every recipe there is (or it seems like it anyway). You can search by ingredient or by name.

Here is one that I make...you can use either a chocolate or yellow cake mix!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1/2 c. butter, softened
4 medium eggs
1 (18.25 ounce) pkg. Chocolate
cake mix or Yellow
2/3 c. water

Directions
Preheat oven to 325* Grease and flour two 9 " round cake pans.

Cream peanut butter and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at time, mix well after each addition. Add cake mix alternately with the water. Stir until combined. Pour batter into prepared pans.

Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cakes to cool in pan for 10 minutes and then invert onto a cooling rack to cool completely.

PB Frosting:
1 c. smooth peanut butter
1/2 c. butter, softened
4 c. confectioners' sugar
1/3 c. heavy cream (milk works also)

Directions:
Combine the peanut butter, and butter, cream together until light and fluffy. Mix in the confectioner's sugar. Add enough cream until it is the right consistency. A little more cream for thin, a little less cream for medium. Spread frosting in between the layers and then cover the cake with the remaining frosting.

Since this frosting is a little tough to work with, I just fluffed the top, rather than trying to smooth, piped rosettes around the edges and topped with chocolate curls!

Here's another Peanut Butter Cake recipe. I fell in love with Candy's pic but I haven't tried the recipe yet. If you click the pic, you'll also be taken to her testing notes. Looks like a good one.

The cake recipe is just PB...no chocolate.

Thanks for the help with the pb cake. I made MrsMissy's cake using a yellow cake mix instead of chocolate. I think that's the same as the PB Cake II in the recipe section. It tastes great! (at least what i trimmed off did). I made pb icing by mixing some creamy pb in with my regular buttercream icing. It's yummy too!

..oh good! That's a great idea with the icing! Was it easy to work with? Mine icing was a pain in the ba-tutty to smooth!

It was very easy to work with. I just used my regular buttercream and about 1/4 to 1/3 creamy pb + I added a little extra water. It crusted like my regular bc too.
