By litterellydelicious Birthday cake for my friend, Gracie. I used the Moroccan silicone onlay from Marvelous Molds to create an impression in my buttercream (I did not use it to transfer fondant to the buttercream because I ran out of material!!). But it worked beautifully with piped buttercream. The plaques and bow are modeling chocolate.
By teaparty I made this quartet of buttercream decorated cakes for my daughter’s school teacher appreciation luncheon. Each 6 inch cake was a different flavour; raspberry limeade cake, lemon blueberry cake, strawberry cream cake and chocolate cake. I decided to unify the cakes by decorating them all with vanilla buttercream in different piped patterns and a gumpaste gerbera daisy to match the theme “Thanks a bunch!”. TFL!

By cupadeecakes I made this cake a few weeks ago for a bride that wanted that rustic wood grain look, but didn’t want any fondant. I found that while the buttercream was nice and cold, I could use a small paring knife to cut in my knots. From there it was just making fluid lines around the knots in around the cake. The cake was getting fresh flowers at the venue, so I substituted some silk ones I have at the bakery as photo shoot stand-ins
By annie84 12″, 8″ and 6″ round buttercream cake. Flowers supplied by the florist. The bride brought me a photo of a 5 tier cake that was very similar. I’m not sure who did the original
By sugarpixy This cake was inspired by my recent trip to Ireland. So many beautiful flowers, I hope to get the opportunity to make many of them. I don’t even know the name of the conical flowers represented in sugar , but they were everywhere in the countryside.3,4 and 6 inch cake finished in buttercream with hand painting and orange sugar flowers
By tfull Rustic wedding cake – This cake was in a barn in Florida in April with no air conditioning & in spite of 2 large bay doors that were open there was just no air flow. Oh, & it was @ 5pm. The buttercream was beginning to act a bit like mud & I was having a difficult time keeping in on the cake. Then finally we had a sudden change in air flow & a slight drop in temperature. It was risky business but all came out well. PHEW!!
I am so flattered to be pictured in this category twice! It's been an awesome year so far. Thanks, Cake Central!
Thank you so much for featuring one of my cakes in this category. I have always worked hard to get my buttercream as perfectly smooth as possible!
