Back in December I was so excited to attend one of the cake decorating classes when I received an email 3 days before leaving that the classes had been cancelled and that I would receive a refund for the classes as well as any expenses incurred.  I have emailed, sent letters, and sent instant messages with no response.  It has now been over 5 months and still no refund.  I'm not sure how a company can be in business and basically steal from a customer like this.  I feel this is unacceptable and highly recommend not using any of their services.

Seems like lots of people have had the same experience.  If you can't have the charges reversed through your credit card or Paypal, I would contact an attorney or see if a collection agency could help you.  (That would work if you have a cake business - there are companies you can hire to do B2B collections).

Hope this helps.

That is really sad.  How can a company stay in business with these practices and treating customers this way?

@RedneckRuffle, I think she's talking about CC.

OP, was that the class in Philadelphia that was cancelled?

If it was something offered through CC, you can report them to the Washington State Attorney General. http://www.atg.wa.gov/fileacomplaint.aspx#.U5ZvvCgYG4g

I doubt that will get you a refund, but it might help.

Yes, it was for the Philadelphia classes.  I guess I will have to go to court.  It's just very sad there are companies out there with such poor customer service and no respect for those willing to pay hard earned money for their services.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this but sadly, there are companies who rip people off. It is always good to research reviews and opinions about that company on line before buying anything from them.

You can also go to you tube and find many cake decorating videos. Type in anything to do with cake decorating, icing, buttercream flowers, buttercream roses and you will find loads of them. I am a hands on person so when I actually see what they are doing then once I practice I can do it.  Good luck with going to court and don't get discouraged just because of one bad apple out there.

oh that is really shameful. I think they lied to the teachers too and said that they gave back refunds to everyone when instructor asked them about that.

They're a really scammy/shady operation. Ironic that we're all using their cake forum too.

I with the owners would sell Cake Central to someone with some ethics and fiscal responsibility.

Jackie3945.  Please tell us all the details.  Go to small claims court.  Contact the Better Business Bureau.  Contact your credit card company, etc.  Don't let these low life you know whats get away with it!  Please keep us posted.  Good luck....

I continue to find it amusing that these threads get started on the forum of the very company in question.  They are so quick to delete threads about all kinds of other inane b.s, but will let the tales of their lack of ethics go on and on.  I guess when it is true, there isn't much they can do to defend their position.

Dozens and dozens of complaining threads have been deleted by CC. They just haven't found this one yet.

Or maybe they don't try to delete any more. Complaints to the Better Business Bureau (where they have an F rating) and the Washington State Attorney General haven't resulted in CC doing anything to salvage their reputation.

You're right Liz, they can't defend their actions (or inaction). They're hopeless.
