This Is A Really Good Story About How Some People Started A Cookie Business - Also Applies To Cakes

It also illustrates why I'm out of the cookie business. Entry is just too easy and as a result too many people doing it for next to nothing.

I know this story! Only, I have helped two different girls with cake decorating. Both jumping into things head first and hoping that texting me along the way to figure out the answers (have the answers handed to them) along the way. Remember, the people that get into business this way, end up out of this business as quickly as they started. They think this will give them freedom and spare time. It is cute that they believe this. Sadly though, experiences like this have left me guarded when people ask me for help. (there is much more to these stories than I have provided)

At one point last year a friend of mine helped a friend of hers who has a legitimate baking business. My friend had been toying with the idea of starting her own business but quickly discarded the idea upon realizing just how much work -- both physical and otherwise -- is involved. She also realized that although she loves all things baking, she'd quickly grow to dislike it if she had to do it day in and day out. For her, it's strictly a hobby and always will be a hobby.

For my friend (the one who helped the friend with the business) it's strictly a hobby. She sticks to friends and family only with her baking. She doesn't do cakes, btw.
Friend with business -- it's definitely a business and it's mostly by mail order.
