Cake Box for 2 Tiered Cake

Generally I have no trouble locating boxes for my tiered cakes, BUT this time of year has been
Especially chaotic, and I'm finding myself in a jam. I have
2 two-tiered cakes being picked up this upcoming
Saturday and I cannot find any of the boxes
I normally use and ordering online is not an
Option at this point. I know a lot of home
Bakers use boxes from places like Home Depot
And simply turn them on their side to put the
Cake in. I need to know what size box to
Buy in order to do this!!! Thanks so much!

I use boxes that I purchase in the office section at Walmart.  I base the box size on the size of my cake,,,just remember that because you are turning the box on it's side, you need to match the height size to the size of your cake base/board. For example: for a box that is 16"L x 16"W x 15"H, you will need to make sure your cake base/board is no larger than 15".

My base is a 12" so I usually buy the corrugated Wilton 12x12x6 boxes

May I ask why you would turn the box on it's side? If you put enough tape on the bottom, the cake is not about to fall out.

I had read it on another thread. Fortunately, I found my boxes and from now on I plan to do what I should have done before now, and keep plenty on hand

I would say they turn the box on the side so that they don't have to lower the cake into the box, they can just slide it in. I don't like to lower mine into the box when the sides are only 6", lowering a cake 16" would be murder on your arms. I slide my cakes in, then close.

I'm not Doramoreno62, but the quote is by St. Francis of Assisi.

There. Their. They're not the same.

I hope I die before "your" becomes the official contraction of "you are."

You are very welcome! If that isn't the reason, it is still a good one, right?
