So glad your "customers" were pleased....

I tried to get permission for a copyright character once, and was told "no way in h*ll" (essentially). Since it was for my daughter, I did it anyway and posted it on my website, then I emailed a link to the copyright holder just to thumb my nose at them for being rude. Nothing ever happened. Now I don't bother asking.

Glad it worked out better for you.

was it DIsney?

No. It was a much lesser known character. I don't think I've ever done a Disney cake without the decopac kits when I used to work at a bakery.

Was just curious since I have hear how they are about that sort of thing. I see sooooooo many cakes on here that are blatant trademark violations (although my theory is  it doesn't affect me so I don't concern myself with other people's business) It seems if Disney wanted to go crazy they could sweep thru here and bust up this place!! lol

I think if they cared, someone would have gotten sued by now. But that's just my theory.

An infringing retailer is more likely to get hit with a C&D letter than a lawsuit, but if you ignore the C&D you are more likely to actually be sued.

There's also the fact that IP laws protect you as well, so if you make the investment in time and money to create something original, you can control how your original work is used by others.

The only character cakes I have made were for my granddaughter...so that is personal use so I'm not concerned either way...
