AI am somewhat new to this community, but I have enjoyed perusing through the conversations. I am always looking for vintage cake recipes. Can anyone recommend any recent books on vintage cake recipes? I found one on Amazon (Julie Richardson's Vintage Cakes) but it was full of recipes that the author changed and made modern. I am looking for more authentic collections. Any recommendations?

AI know, it does sound silly

I was hoping to find a book with color photos so that I know what it's supposed to look like when done.

you would love that book--it has great photos--you can get a good feel for it on ebay--there's tons of them on there and they have lots of photos of the pages of the book

often the recipes come in two sizes which is pretty cool

it's a treasured book in my collection  ;)

Oh I can picture myself standing for two hours making cakes in high heels.  Oh how far women have come nowadays!  I want one of those wands, though!

I did find a book that I am anxiously awaiting from Amazon.  "Memories- Vintage Cake Recipes" by Becky Johnson.  I will report back when I get it and try some of the recipes.

ANot sure what type of recipes you are looking for but there's a good thread on Chowhound right now about vintage cakes. These threads get really long so it's definitely one to keep your eye on.
