Not that I don't make my own mistakes, but these drive me crazy, and people are blissfully unaware I am about to chew my own eyes out over here! I see these italicized words swapped for the other one, all day long on various websites... I have some examples of the correct way to use each word, in sentence form, please add your own!

I put my foot on the brakes. I will be taking a break.
They're having a cake made, over there at their famous bakery.
Which way shall we go? That baker is a complete witch!

on a different thread where every one of your examples of misspelling was present. The funniest part of the misspelling was the poster's overly cocky attitude regarding herself. Ha!
They are annoying, but I think the recent poster guilty of crimes against spelling mentioned in one of her previous incarnations that she's dyslexic.
I get irritated when people say something like " I have a ____ for sell", rather than it being for SALE. (it is possible that is maybe a geographical thing though)
As far as spoken word, my biggest peeve is when a somebody uses the word "pitcher" when they mean to say PICTURE. "we have an appointment to have a family pitcher taken". That really gets under my skin! lol
How did "definitely" not make it to the list yet? That is one of the most misspelled and bastardized words in the English language, in addition to "supposedly."
Oh yeah, "pitcher." Someone got me with that on the phone once when I was in high school. She said yeah, pitchers for the baseball players. I said, "OH, PICTURES!" She was blissfully unaware.
Speaking of pictures, when I used to develop film in high school, someone came in with a roll and said, "this film has a default." That one made me scratch my head. Then I realized she was trying to say had a defect.

I don't like to read spelling errors either. I want to go in a correct all of them! However, I must say, we can't all be good at everything. My math skills are sorely lacking, but I'm fluent in Spanish. Sometimes creative people are not academic, their talents lie elsewhere.
Yes, I find these irritating. But let's remember that many members speak/read/write English as a second language.

What I find a bit annoying is when the native English speakers continue to make the same mistakes over and over again, despite replies using the correct word. Clearly, being observant is not a strong point either.

I, too am dyslexic, it makes me better at spelling, since I am patently aware of my defect, haha.... I proof read every post before I submit it.

I think that is a Kentucky thing, lol! Check out Craigslist, and they try to make it sound like a QVC commercial, too. "Up for sell here we got us a rot iron chair..."
Let us also remember that many of us do not. American, or otherwise, this can be a very helpful thread for us all over the world. And I see many of these mistakes on the other parts of the web, like my Facebook page. My good friend is from originally from Germany, and I have another who's from the Congo, and yet another from Portugal, who all have better spelling than the folks I know whose entire family have spoken a version English since before King James.

THAT is a good one! I can't believe I missed it, since it KILLS me!

My math skills stink too, that is why I use a calculator. A little education and a bit of caring go a very long way!

Oh yeah, I am not even talking about anyone on the forum here, nor referring to ESL speakers. It's just in general. "I seen" is a big one here where I live. It's "I saw." AH!!!
AAAAnd we don't even want to go into "text-speak"....really, what is "prolly"?
Oh my goodness! I am all for "words" like "WTF?" when I see someone writing like that, but my ex-husband is even worse. He thinks the actual word is probly. A1 reason I divorced him... Okay, not really, but it contributed ;-) When we named our twins, I wanted Brian and Keith, but he kept saying our new baby's name was Keiff, so I quickly changed it to Kyle. (WHAT was I thinking when I married him??)
Oh, has this thread ever hit one of my biggest pet peeves! My mom, whose father was a school teacher, insisted on our using correct English, in addition to spelling. She even corrected the lyrics of popular songs we'd sing if they contained poor grammar. Unfortunately, not all teachers are so conscientious. One of my son's teacher's philosophy was that spelling didn't matter if the point was made. I was dumbfounded! In school yet! (Sentence fragment) A note she sent home was riddled with spelling errors. I had to work as hard as my own mother did and am gratified to have grown children who can speak and spell correctly.
The trouble is, I find errors everywhere I look, not just on-line. It is almost an obsession and I am distracted everywhere. I have to overcome the compulsion to pull out a marker and correct all that I find! :(
So thanks for letting me know that I am not alone. I take some comfort in that fact. :)
