Complete Beginner In Desperate Need Of Help!
Decorating By Sainoue Updated 4 Mar 2013 , 8:13am by Sainoue
My question is what would be the easiest/most recommended way for a complete beginner to make this cake?
thanks in advance!
A frozen buttercream transfer might be the easiest way to go.

Good luck & be sure to post a pic of your cake!
Thank you very much for your help! I'll do my best to make the cake and I'll definitely post a pic when it's done
I think he easiest way would be to buy a small amount of fondant , color portions of it the correct colors with gel type food colors (all these things are widely available at Michaels, JoAnns, etc.) roll out each color, and cut out the shapes and put them together like a puzzle, or even layered on top of each other. Its a fairly simple figure. Cut out the shapes with a sharp knife or exacto knife (on a surface you can cut on of course - I cut through an expensive silpat mat once ). then just lay it on top of your cake. you can lay it on top of fondant or buttercream. Good luck. She will appreciate the effort.
Fondant sounds like an easier way and I like the sound of puzzle :P
How would I do to create the black outline on the fondant/figure?

I would roll out a thin rope of black fondant or cut long thin strips and place between the fondant where needed. I've actually done the "puzzle" technique & it is highly effective. I printed a picture of the image (a few actually) and cut out all the shapes: eyes, nose, mouth etc. then placed them over the colored fondant and traced them out with an exacto blade. Easier than free-hand, in my opinion. Good luck. : )
