Hello All, so I need to make a bunch of moth orchids for a cake.  Jennifer Dontz is out of stock, her cutters looks so much better and are my 1st choice, but I went with a set from Sunflower Sugar.  I cut a billion petals yesterday and I'm so irritated - these petals don't fit together.  At all.  They stick out way too much making this "flower" look so fake.  And I HATE how the back petals are 3 together and not individually wired.  I checked Scott Clark Woolley and his cutter is the exact same thing that I have, which I think (now comparing all the sites I know of) is just a PME cutter set.  Who else has good cutters I can order ASAP?

This is what I want (or something like it):

This is what I DON'T want (and already have):

Thanks!!!

Jen

Hi, check at Nick Lodge's site, and look at his. We all love him, so maybe he will have what you need. Good Luck!!! I will keep looking also.

I do like the Dusky Rose tutorial, but I don't love not having cutters.  It will be plan B though if I can't get any cutters.

Nicholas Lodge has the PME cutters too.  Those are the ones I have and don't like at all.

But thanks!  Any more suggestions?

Helen Dissell - a super talented Australian (well she IS South African BUT she lives here now so we can call her out own!)

Her company is http://www.sugarartcreations.com.au/sugarart-price-guides.htm

Not sure whether the CC blocker will muck up this link .... purely because it contains those TWO FORBIDDEN names - in the address

Global Sugar Art has the cutters like Sugar Delites.  Currently on sale.

Given the security problems at GSA, I would phone the order in - I'm not sure things have been cleared up.

Oh, yeah that's why I didn't order from GSA (thanks, CC!).  Man I am hating making this flower.  Maybe there is some trick I'm just missing?  I'm back on it today, maybe I can manipulate these cutters to be more what I need.

Know what you mean about the moth orchid.  I always manage to break the throat.  Probably making them too thin.  I have lots of petals and NO usable throats :(

So Jennifer, which cutters did you end up using?

Jennifer got them in and rushed them right out to me!  They turned out beautiful.  In case anyone wants to see...

Tricky little flower to make, I'll tell you that.  Took some thinking about on how to wire and assemble, but I got it.

Thanks for asking!
