Hi all! I was wondering if anyone knew of any software programs out there that are compatible with the cricut cake? I would like to use fonts from my own computer and am not sure if theres a way to do that. I have heard of Make the Cut but also read that they no longer support cricut. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
I have a Cricut I purchased 4 years ago now, and I immediately load SCAL onto it, I have the use of over 5000 types of fonts and 1000's and 1000's of images, I also have software programs which allow me to make them into images and load them thru SCAL then cut.
If you were to advertise on craigslist or even look on ebay for a Cricut machine that has SCAL 1 on it already, you should be able to use it for your cake stuff. I have seen numerous videos on youtube about how to convert a regular machine into a cake machine, just make sure you also clean it thuroughly and change out the blade. It will work.
BTW, I absolutely LOVE my Cricut with SCAL.
It has to be an older cricut that has never been updated and an older version of SCAL or Make The Cut. Since Provo Craft sued both companies they will no longer work with the newer machines or updated versions of the software. The software is loaded onto your computer, not the cricut so you would need to find both an older cricut (never updated) and older version of the software.
AI recently purchased a CRICUT CAKE v2.31 and I purchased from ESTY a SCAL2 and it worked for me !!! They were very helpful!!! Don't know if you ever found out about your software request, but Cricut cake also have Craftroom that is online and free to use although you have to still buy cartrigdes to use some images.
AOne thing about SCAL is that your images MUST be vector based, if they aren't they need to be converted, which you can do in a basic manner throught the SCAL, or if you are computer graphic savy you can do a better conversion with Photoshop or a similar program. Like has already been said you need an older cricut and never never upgrade the operating system. The limits then are ENDLESSLY awesome:)
