Best Cake Recipes To Cover A Cake With Fondant

So, I haven't really worked alot with fondant and was wondering what kind of cake is best to use to cover a cake in fondant. Looking for any flavor recipes / box mixes that hold up well under fondant.
There are lots of good recipes here under most saved recipes that ppl have had success using with fondant. Durable 3D cake recipe is one.You can change up the pudding mixes etc to match your cake flavour. I use the tasty and moist vanilla pound cake recipe on CC and it works well with fondant. I have covered WASC with fondant with no problem. I find it to be a dense yet moist cake. Just make sure your icing base (ganache, marzipan, crusting BC or your preference) under your fondant is firm to support the weight of fondant on the cake edges and corners.
You can use most recipes. Perhaps not something very light and fluffy, but apart from that, anything is fine. I mostly use pound cakes or mud cakes, which are fairly dense, but many here use all sorts of box mixes under fondant with no trouble.
I totally agree with Kakeladi!!! Love WASC! It's almost like a pound cake, nice and sturdy under fondant and at the bottom of five tier cakes too! This cake goes the distance! lol!
just come across this thread as looking for tips myself and wondered what do u all mean wen saying wasc ?
thanks
