Mine is through go daddy but word press has beaten me :(. I'm lost lol

I'm not overly familiar with Wordpress. Isn't it more of a blog? Or am I wrong?

Mine is HTML coded from scratch.

Nope, you are exactly right. It seems to me that it is more blog orientated. I'm thinking I might have to throw some money at someone to make me a website. I bought the website thing through go daddy and Wordpress is what it have me. It's not what I thought it would be at all.

Haha.  I am so one for trying to take the easy way out lol

I have tried again on my own first though and am much happier with this than I was the last one.  Lesson learned, don't try to do things like this with 3 screaming children around lol

That's the same idea people have about bespoke cakes though... There's levels of websites, just like cakes, sometimes you need a site designed rather than off the shelf.

Your site looks really good Siany - just one thing though, apparently you're 'studding' for your level 3 :-)

The ice bucket challenge was flipping freezing (odd that), especially when my eldest decided to get the hose on me too. I shall have my revenge :-D

That cake is beautiful relznik, I do like red on white, it's such a nice contrast.

Night all :-)

Thanks for the proof read Lizzy, thought I'd got them all. I'll change that in the morning. I have found someone to do it for £400 (mates rates) if I'm not happy with what I create so I have another option now.

Yes I know, I was just offering her some help. Times are still a struggle for some so if you can do it yourself for free then at least have a go which she has and it looks fine. By all means get someone to do your SEO if you havent a clue but the actual site really isnt that difficult.

Sorry Tiddy, I didn't mean to be snarky if that's how it came over, I just meant there's no point getting annoyed if people pay for what they need as template sites don't suit everyone. Hubby used to be a Web designer and specialised in SEO, but even after years of doing it he still had to pay an outside company when we were setting up a company that needed a specialised site.

I can talk anyway, mine is still kaput, hubby's always fed up with IT when he gets home so it gets left behind. Ho hum.

Have you at least got a relaxing weekend planned Kelsey? Are all the cakes being picked up or do you need to deliver far afield?

Thankfully yes lizzy! Hubby booked me in for my hair and I think he's taking me out for the day on Sunday for food and stuff so that should be a nice birthday!

The doc mcstuffins cake and 6 frozen cupcakes are for a woman in work so I'll be taking those in on Friday. My mum is coming to pick up the Lego cake, 12 Lego cupcakes and 6 21st birthday cupcakes on Friday day so hubby will sort her with that as he's off work. And then the shoe cake and sports cake will need to be delivered when I get home from work on Friday night, but only a few minutes down the road so I'll do two trips and hold the cakes while hubby drives. Then Saturday is sleeeeeeeep! Hahaha

AMorning all. :-) Just popping on quickly to reply to Siany, catch up with everyone else later. "We do take collections" confused me at first Siany but them I realised you meant customers can collect their cakes. Could you reword that so it doesn't confuse like minded doofuses?! Maybe "collection of your cake is on an appointment only basis" or something like that. It's a good website, easy to navigate on my iphone. Cakes look amazing, I think you've done really well. :-) I didn't find prices, I know you can't give a price list but I like to have an idea of what things might cost me before I enquire. That's just me tho. X

Good cake/website analogy btw Lizzy. :-)

I have no cakes next week either, so my house is getting a well overdue bloody scrub! Poor hubby is putting up with me with all these cakes. He's even resorted to using his laptop on the floating work top in the kitchen so he can actually talk to me!

AMorning all!!! :-)

Regarding the site, if you have time and save some money, yes do it by your self. I got someone to do it for me because I didn't have time and I don't have a clue what web designing means!!! And I know if you want something unique, you have to pay a good price which I couldn't afford. So I got a friend of a friend to do it, which I am very happy with.

Siany, I tried so many times to open your link but I couldn't on my iPad. Have to check on my PC later. I am sure it's lovely.

Wow that's a lot of cakes Kelsey. Advanced happy birthday. Are you making your own cake? What will it be?

Marvel, thanks for the link. You looked very cool but very happy. It did seem to be you could burst at any moment :D

Off to buy eggs and make some sample cakes. See you later folks x

Thanks Maisie, I have changed it,  Have a look and see how it reads now.  It made perfect sense in my head last night but you are spot on and its not that clear when you read it lol

I haven't put anything of about prices as I want to make sure I say it right.  I'm going to have a hunt around for the right wording, I know there are a couple of guys on FB that have great wording that they have said they don't mind if you use so I am going to have a look at editing those and making it more 'me'.

Bashini, if you are following the first link I put on then it probably wont work as I closed it down as I got the wrong thing and was trying to fit a square peg in a wordpress shaped hole lol  I re did it with website builder and it went much better.

AIt's looking good siany. The only thing you might want to add in for your own sanity is some sort of opening times with your phone number, just to try and save you from the 10pm call or the 8am on a Sunday that some people think is acceptable.

Haha, yep same here! He just uses the excuse "it's cold without you" when it's really not. I think he's scared if the monster in the wardrobe myself. Haha

I think I may construct a combination of vanilla and chocolate cut offs with chocolate ganache and buttercream filling and slap a candle in the middle hahah. I'm really not one for fuss! I love fussing over others though.

At Christmas I'm more excited to see people open presents than open my own!

AEep, how much have I missed lol!?!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes :-D

Hi Jean, glad to see you are back! Wow that's a lot of earthmoving! I hope it stops the flooding, am sure it will look fab too if that front garden is anything to go by!

Marvel, hope your first week back goes well and all the kiddies are on best behaviour! OMG re talking to Mr Jackman, what a claim to fame! Puts mine to shame - when I was about 8 my sister and I met Noël Edmunds, and she smacked him on the bum because he asked if he could have one of her crisps ROFL!

Lizzy, ooh I love that wedding cake!! Such a fab colour combo, it looks gorgeous! I can't work out though, what flowers are they?

Tiddy, so pleased the fair went well! Do you think you'll get lots of business from it? I need to get cracking on my new dummies over the next few weeks, thinking of a combo of painted and 3D flowers at the moment...

Siany, website looks good so far :) I did mine myself using Weebly. Took a few goes to tweak it, but eventually I got something I was pleased with and it was actually fairly easy. I will eventually get a professional to revamp it, but it couldn't justify a £4-500 spend that early on!

Kuushi, sending you lots of caffeinated good luck vibes for the rest of your week! The shoe looks amazing so far (who was it who said they have old man slippers to make? That did make me chuckle lol!). For making them shine, I'd go with steam, PME Glaze or lustre dusts :)

Hi everyone else, sorry if I've missed you off, so much going on LOL!

I'm busy making Willy Wonka themed cupcakes this week, just hope they turn out ok! Never like replicating a known characters or images etc as I always want them to look perfectly like the original, which rarely happens!

Then we spend new year in London with our family up there.

ALol Kelsey :-) I have a Tesco cheapy cake bought for me for my birthday. How awful is that? I love them though, all that bordering-on-dry sponge and generic buttercream :-D

Hey Mel, nice to see you on again :-)

The flowers on the cake are made up, I used poppy cutters and cut parts of the paste away to make the shape I wanted. Really I should have just squidged the cutter and saved myself the time, but I didn't want to buy new cutters when I couldn't get them back into the right shape:-D

It's me with the old man slippers. I'm considering doing them in hot pink just so I can pretend it's a petty shoe

I love Willy Wonka (the book and the new film, not the original), looking forward to seeing them!

Shhh Kelsey, why are you mentioning the C word in September, my kids will hear!? :-D

Hi all

Another marathon catch up. Loved all the wedding cakes, Lizzy, Bashini and Relznik.

Kelsey I use DinkyDoodle Shell and Shine spray for a real glaze or the PME spray which seems to be more readily available, steam for flowers and leaves. I bought this steamer which is easier than keep switching a kettle on and off. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H7E0S5E/?tag=cakecentral-20+steamer

Just finished a cake for our lovely vet who is leaving the practice and heading back to Dublin. We are all gutted to see him go. Two layers of caramel cake sandwiched with caramel flavoured buttercream between two layers of chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache.

Maisie - it's nearly Thursday - the suspense is killing me. Also racking my brains trying to think why I might be the one most likely to guess?? Cats/military/GOT????????????????
