AMorning all. :-)

My car is fixed. :-D the one rack end had gone and the other was on it's way out. If I'd ignored the clunking the steering rack would have gone and that would've been £400 just for parts. As it was it was £192. My tax is due next month so I hope after that I won't have to spend any more on it til it's MOT in January.

Sorry for keeping you all in suspense, I was just so excited! I'll tell you as soon as I can, one person on here has already guessed, hope that doesn't do your heads in even more! You'd be the most likely to figure it out catsmum. (That's a clue Gray!)

Good luck with the cookie chezzabelle.

Well done getting the cupcakes done nanny, my favourite are the pink ones but I really like the blue and pink flowers too.

I love your cooker Kuuushi, I'd love one but my kitchen is tiny. :-(

AWelcome nannybakes cakes. :-) All I can say is wow, reading this entire thread is pretty impressive! How long did it take you? You'll get loads of help here and if I don't annoy everyone with my stupid questions, nobody will.

Speak of the devil, morning Kathy. :-) (that's another clue Gray!) Maybe nanny can be Barbara and nannybakescakes can be nanny then? Might be confusing for a while tho.

Maisie - you are a tease!!! Haha!  I'm really going now - honestly!  I have to try to pack all my stuff and all my husband's stuff (one carrier bag....tick!) into the boot of our Z3.  This is not going to be easy!

ANanny will you have internet access? If you do you can pop in every now and again.

Haha, bye Kathy, have a lovely time, you deserve it. X P.S if hubby's carrier bag takes up too much room use a little veg bag! Or sneakily squeeze a bit of yours into his carrier. :-D

Mine shattered about 3 months in Roxy, called up breville and they replaced it as it was under warranty. Said something about it being a popular fault and it's due to heat buildup under the glass but it shattered because the glass had a weak spot!

I got insured on mine so I'm gonna ring them today and see what they say. I hate not having the glass lid on the stove ends up full of crap.

AI'm leaving work at 3 to get this cake to the venue and stacked. I'm so nervous about it.

She wanted congratulations on your engagement on it but no matter how much I tried I couldn't get it small enough to fit!

I've texted her about it and I really hope she doesn't mind! Does it look out of the way?

ANo it doesn't look out of the way Kuuushi. I don't see how you could fit any more on it tbh. Can't wait to see it delivered and stacked. :-)

AI bet it was an interesting read tho, I'm remembering some of our conversations and wondering what people think of us all now! I don't think about it being on the internet for everyone and anyone to see usually, just feels like I'm texting my mates!

Aah bum I was about to say "mornin' all" but I'm 11 minutes late!! Afternoon all! Hi Sha nice to see you! :) love your Mini cake- characters are so hard to get right :) ...I might have to add another pup to the sketch tho- that'll really confuse Maisie hee hee :D

so I found a great tip- you know when you get a wee mark and use a little water to get rid of it but you end up with an annoying shiny bit? well a spray of water from a really fine mister over the whole cake and then left to dry overnight it amazing- I tried it on my suit cake after a big mistake left a terrible mark and it dried without any shininess at all totally erasing the previous watermark... amazing!

What's everyone's weekend like? I'm making a giant lindt lindor out of fudge cake and finishing a fimo topper :) ooh and going to the beach for a boat trip to see seals and birds and (fingers crossed) dolphons :)

Well I hope you get to see some dolphins Gray - I'm off to Cornwall tomorrow and I am just hoping the jellyfish have gone!

Ah well back to creative packing.......

I found it really interesting especially watching peoples talent and knowledge developing . The standard of cakes is so high from all of you that i was a little nervous about posting as im a only a home baker making cakes for family and friends only .

okay a little back story .... i really do love all aspects of cake making and put my heart and soul into everyone , however 2 moments made me want to throw a punch or two lol .

the first was the super mario cake for my grandson , the cake was small as there where only 3 kids and 4 adults , my daughter on seeing it said   "why is it so tiny " and " 1 of the tubes is cracked "  so i ignored her but my husband told her firmly that if she wanted a bigger cake then she better put her damn hand in her pocket and pay for a bigger cake that would go to waste .

the second was the minnie cake and below is a conversation i had with a women i only met at the party

Her " omg that is amazing , you made that ? "

me " aw ty and yes i did "

Her " how much did it cost "

me  " for ingredients and new cake pan  £35.00 "  rough estimate

Her " my twins have a birthday in 2 weeks and ive been looking at the cakes in asda but god there dear "

Me " yeah cake are expensive " of course what im thinking is no they are not and ive just said this cost 35 ..... and i know whats coming

Her " if i gave you  cake mixes from pound shop could you make me 2 cakes , 1 dora and 1 thomas , i could manage £15.00 , better you make some money than asda ...... right "

me " i cant actually make cakes for money because i dont have a food safety certificate ... sorry "       yes i actually said this , to this day i dont know why ... i think i had brain fade lol  of course what i should have said cannot be written because it would contain to many bad words ......

so this is why i stopped making cakes ....non baking  adults .. who think a cake can be whipped up for a tenner in a few hours .

until 6 weeks ago when my daughter phoned me and said im engaged

and then one week later phoned me and said im pregnant

and then next day said ive spoken to jenny future mil and im getting married

and so it began lol

:-D

AWow sha, that's a common conversation I think we all have! People are so clueless about cake.

I swear they literally think we bung a load of stuff in a bowl, slam it in a cake tin and when the timer goes ding it comes out looking exactly how they want it, filled, carved, stacked and personalised!

Honestly some people make me sick. I don't even bother doing a cake these days unless it's £50 and if they think I'm expensive then they're not the kind of customers I want!

Pfff!

Still dreading this fecking stack job in Llanelli today
