Has anyone ordered supplies from Country Kitchen? Have you had any trouble with erroneous charges on your credit card?
I haven't ordered anything from them but on the thread about the same kind of problems at GSA, a couple of people have mentioned problems like this at CK, too.
AOk I just went into a long rant on another thread about ordering online it wasn't CK but I'm quickly becoming wary of ordering online. I'm not sure but I thought I read in one of the threads that they didn't have a problem with GSA when they called there order in But I might be wrong? I guess one sure way of dealing with GSA is to use one of those preloaded credit cards you load it up once than use it, it cost something to preload it but in the long run it would be worth it
I had my Credit card number stolen twice, each time after ordering from CK. I ordered from GSA but used the paypal option and had no problems, I won't order from either of those two places unless there's a paypal option or I have a disposable credit card.
Country Kitchen does not have a PayPal option, so I e-mailed them this:
I would really like to place an order with you, but I have heard from cake-bakers/decorators who have incurred erroneous charges on their credit cards after ordering from your site. Can you please provide a PayPal option? If not, and I phone you to place my order, can you guarantee that my credit card information will not be placed in an electronic file?
The reply was (and I'm not sure that they actually answered my questions):
Hi Marie,
Our registered certificate information is also posted on the website. You can call an order in as well if you would prefer. Let me know if there is anything we can do for you.
Thank you,
Todd Myers

And yet my credit card number was stolen twice after ordering from them, and hasn't been stolen since I stopped ordering. So I'd just use the prepaid credit card.
I wouldn't order from them at all without a PayPal option. That e-mail didn't address your question, it was just a stall.
AI want to order from them again too, but I had a fraudulent charge on my card after the last time they ordered. I wish they had a Paypal option.
I wanted to clarify that it was CKproducts that I ordered from, not Country Kitchens. I order wholesale, so I use CKproducts, I don't use Country Kitchen.
How safe is Paypal? I have never had an issue with ordering items online. I have done my shopping this way for years. Then my wonderful spouse advised me to start using Paypal to "protect" myself and my accounts. Since he is my favorite computer geek, I took his advise. I started using Paypal and my account information was stolen and used to start transfering money through an online company. I will NEVER use Paypal again.
I've never had a problem with paypal, and I couldn't find anything about thier systems ever being compromised. On the other hand, I just heard of another friend who just had her credit card info stolen after ordering from GSA. It can happen anytime, but if it keeps happening over and over then something stinks. I wouldn't have a problem using paypal but if I could definitely trace a number being stolen back to it I probably would.
I never had a problem with GSA as I call my orders into them. However, I have ordered through Paypal and have had 2 different credit cards used for fraud in the past 3 weeks. I am very afraid of ordering online now.
I spoke to Leslie at Country Kitchen SA about this, here's the scoop as far as I know: http://www.acaketorememberva.blogspot.com/2012/12/credit-card-theft-and-online-cake-stores.html
