Deborah Robarts has petitioned the California state legislators to enact a Cottage Foods bill
authorizing the Department of Health and Senior Services and/or the
Department of Agriculture to issue customized "Home Bakery" licenses to
residential kitchens for the purpose of selling
non-potentially-hazardous bakery products, such as, but not necessarily
limited to: breads, cakes, doughnuts, pastries, buns, rolls, cookies,
biscuits, and pies (except meat or cream pies).

If you live in California and would like to support this bill please copy and paste link http://www.petitiononline.com/CAHBLP/petition.html Please only sign if you are a CA resident. And pass this on!! Thanks for your support.

Sure am glad to see this post. It would be nice to see California follow the other states with Cottage Laws.

Is this the same petition that has been floating around for quite awhile now that is pretty much dead? Has anyone contacted our state representatives yet? That's what we need to do. Does anyone know if this has been done? I'd like to join that team. If not - we need to form a team and start doing that.

So I'm assuming no one has actually contacted our state reps? Until that happens, this is pretty much worthless. Does anyone know what needs to be done for that to be taken seriously? In other words, we need someone that knows how to lobby. Everything else is a waste of time.

This is now being pursued by the Sustainable Economies Law Center.

See http://www.theselc.org/cottage-food-laws/ and sign the petition here: www.change.org/petitions/california-state-legislature-enact-a-cottage-food-law-in-california
