I have found several pictures of beautiful cakes that incorporate curling ribbon in the decorations. Is there a trick to using it? I mean, can I use just regular curling ribbon that I would use for wrapping gifts? And how is the ribbon attached to the cake? Is it curled and then attached to a sucker stick or something that that before being inserted into the cake? Any help/suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated.

Sure...you can use regular wrapping ribbon I just curl the amount I want, tie it in the middle with a twist tie (making sure that it is secure and won't come off) and stick it into the cake. I have also just laid the ribbon on top of the cake and drape it over the edges. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Twist tie - great idea - wouldn't have thought of that. Just wasn't sure if people used regular curling ribbon or something special (worrying that regular curling ribbon's color might bleed onto the cake).

But anyway, thanks for responding. That helps.
