Here is how I made my Gucci Stencil.
I've attached a scan of the stencil, it is clear so I had to reverse the exposure so it can be seen, so it looks kinda funky but it worked I swear... icon_redface.gif
Here is the Gucci print I used to make the stencil, I printed it out in the correct scale for my purse (could be resized.)

Here is the stencil sheet that I used, bought it as Hobby Lobby.
http://www.stencilease.com/db/display.asp?input=1604

I taped the print to a piece of foam board, then taped the stencil sheet on to that.

Then using a brand new Xacto blade I cut the pattern out.

I did the same thing with the Gucci logo.
http://webiglasses.com/products/images/gucci_logo.bmp.

After I fnished cutting them out I washed and dried them.
I used a thick royal icing and a borad flat paint brush to aplly the stencil.
I held it with my hand as flat as I could and brushed a thin layer of royal across the stencil and lifted up.
The hard areas were the curved parts. I had to do those a little at a time, letting the royal dry and going back and doing 1 and 2 sections at a time.
The stencil itself worked fine it was my painting of the gold dust that did'nt go so well.
The Gucci logo was done the same way.
And that's all there was too it, easy but time consuming and my hands hurt after making the stencil. But it was worth it.
HTH.

Thank you! It seems that you would have to be very patient when cutting out a detailed stencil like that Gucci print. The cake looks great!!

Thanks so much for the stencil template, CakeMommy! I initially tried cutting the stencil out with a stencil Exacto knife, but that was sooo hard! So, I went to Michael's and bought a Plaid brand stencil cutter ($15.99, but I used 40% off coupon, so it came out to 9.60). The stencil cutter uses heat to cut the stencil paper and also allows you to make intricate cuts. The stencil cutter I bought can be found at the link below.

I've been wanting to buy some cake stencils, but they are little pricey for a hobby baker. I wonder if this technique would work well for intricate designs. Thanks for the tutorial!

I also wondered that when I went to look at the cake being discussed. I love her work. I don't think she's here anymore - her last post was in April. icon_sad.gif
