a chiffon cake may work... it similar to a angel food cake. it contains flour, water, eggs, sugar, and oil..so no milk or butter. you can sub the water for for different liquids for flavor. i dont have a recipe for one right at this moment...shhh i'm at work...lol but you can search the recipe section.
I recipe I got in the past from a lady on here I have made numerous times for various friends, some of who are lactose intollerent, some who are not and they all really liked it.
Chocolate Depression Cake
1 2/3 cup flour
225g/8oz/1 cup brown or white sugar
25g/1oz/1/4 cup cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/3 cup oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
Grease and flour 8x8 inch pan (9x13 inch for doubled recipe). Thoroughly mix together all ingredients. Bake at 350oF/180oC degrees for 30- 35 minutes.) Can sprinkle icing sugar on top while cake is hot if desired.
With the benefit of hindsight!:
·Leave in the tin for a little while to partially cool because otherwise it tends to break
·Its probably even almost tastes better the next day or after a few hours because the top gets a little sticky/fudgy which I think is good!
Not a cake you could decorate but really really good none the less!

Hi my son was diagnosed with a milk allergy 6 years ago and I have tried countless recipes in that time I bought dairy free cook books, did more google searches than I could possibly count tried some pretty foul recipies and then I noticed that the brand of dairy free margarine that the hospital had recommended we use says on the side suitable for baking!
I now use all my original recipies and substitute the butter for the exact same amount of dairy free spread and if the recipe calls for milk then I use soya milk.
