Ok, I have an old coworker that asked me to make his birthday cake. He has given NO insight as to what this cake should look like. Well, he said half a sheet sized. Uh, that doesnt really tell me much.

I know thats not a lot to go on, but I have NO clue where to even begin. Did I mention that he wants this cake tomorrow?!

Oh wow, those shirts are awesome! I would love to have the chance to do something like that. I don't think they will fit with this guy though icon_sad.gif He's in his lower 30s, no kids, no wife. He's a laid back kind of guy, he's fun and loves to hang out and party. Thanks for suggesting something though, I really appreciate it, and will definitely try that one day.

Oh my bad. In your post you said a old coworker. Here are some masculine cakes that you can try to incorporate into a sheet cake.

How about chocolate cake? Most guys enjoy chocolate cake. At least in my family they sure do.
Heres a link to one I make off and on for friends and family get togethers. Its choco cake, choco BC & choco ganache with choc dipped fruit & choco cut outs. Easy to play around with, just add whatever fruit is in season.

I love the cake posted above with the circles. I just did a Father's Day cake, but it could easily be modified for a birthday sheet cake. It was pale green with brown, tan, white stripes - simple for a guy.

PattyT, I love that cake. I'm putting it in my favs. I could always use a nice masculine cake to save. Coming up with inspiration for men/ teen boys are not as easy as cakes for girls/women.

I knew i went to the right place. I ended up doing a cake similar to Patty's. Mine didn't look nearly as good, but it was ok for a last minute cake. Thanks guys. The pic is in my photos (dont know how to attach it here.)

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I agree with yummy about having trouble with cakes for men.

d925marie - you did a great job with the birthday cake! I also enjoyed looking at your pictures. Your cupcake tower was adorable, and my hubby the golfer would love your golf cake.
