I made this cake for my son's friend Devante who is leaving for the Navy on Jan 3, 2011. This is a 13x9 french vanilla cake carved and iced in buttercream and then covered in MMF. The 19 on the cake is for his age and the circled D for his name. Buttercream waves are 3 different shades of blue mixed and spread together. The stars underneath the airplanes are fruit rollups cut to size. Toy airplanes are used on the cake. I wasn't able to see his reaction but to hear my son tell me about it. Devante was absolutely thrilled.
