Champagne Flute Separators Wedding Cake on Cake Central

Made this as a show cake for our very first Bridal Fair booth! It was huge hit! people where gathering and taking pictures all weekend! What do you think?

WOW! I wasn't expecting all the comments! Thank you soooo much to everyone for your kind words about our work! Our company, Mayking Cakes (maykingcakes.com), is the joint effort of my wife and I...it really feels good to hear from fellow cake artists that they like our work! Now...I will try to answer all of your questions. (I'm sorry if I miss any!) The cake sizes are 18", 14", 10" and 6". What you see is what you get...there is no hidden support structure. The champagne flutes can hold the weight! They are not secured with royal icing or hot glue...but I see no problem doing so if it would make you feel more secure. The trick is to place them evenly so the total weight is distributed equally among the flutes. This picture is of a cake we made for a Bridal fair so it is made of Styrofoam cake dummies...But we have made this design before using real cakes with fondant and it worked beautifully! The champagne flutes are not some fancy crystal or anything...they are from Wal-Mart...they are really cheap but surprisingly thick and sturdy. If you feel un-easy about the number of flutes, simply add more to taste. The design is actually very sturdy. The weight of the real cake tiers actually make it sturdier than with the Styrofoam cake dummies...it creates more downward force and that makes for less wobbling/swaying. There are 48 flutes in this particular design...but again, if that gives you a bit of heartburn you could always use more! :) There is a 20" piece of glass used on the bottom row of flutes to support the 18" cake tier. There are thin pieces of round mirror underneath and on top of each set of flutes. This cake is a lot of fun to make and is ALWAYS a show stopper! I hope I answered everyone's questions...if you have any more, just ask. Thanks again for all the wonderful comments!
