Hi everyone, I have had customers ask me iof I can make bride & groom figures to go on top of their wedding cakes. I have been honest and told them that I have not yet attempted to do them. So if there is anyone out there that can give me some help in this area it would be very much appreciated.

If you've never made figurines before I would say practice practice practice! Its not something that will come easy. First practice faces because even if the bodies aren't perfect a weird looking face will ruin the whole thing. I like to get photos of the people I am modeling just to get a few of the features right. Make sure you use gumpaste or 50/50 mix of gumpaste and fondant. You will need to use toothpicks to hold the body together. And another toothpick to adhere it to the cake depending on where your putting it. Im new to this also but these are some things I've picked up. Check my photos there is a camping cake with figurines on it. HTH

I love modeling, but it takes time and patience. Polymer Clay books are helpful and are a good place to start. There are tutorials on the web. Lorraine McKay gives classes and has tutorials for purchase.

Here is a tutorial that is a good reference, not really a full tutorial skips here and there but you get the jist of what to do and it can definetly be modified but it is a good starting place.
