Definitely something cream cheese. How about maple cream cheese? Just add some maple extract or syrup.

Maple cream cheese. I just made pumpkin cupcakes and frosted them with Maple cream cheese frosting. It's amazing.

2 pkgs of cream cheese
1 stick of butter
1/4 c og maple syrup
2 c powdered sugar

A Mascarpone or Mascarpone/Cream Cheese filling would also be nice, and a bit more upscale.

If you Google "Mascarpone Filling" you will see a couple of recipes from the Food Network that are pretty good.

If you want to mix Mascarpone and Cream Cheese to cut down the cost, you could go half and half.
