Here's How Far A Sleeve Of Filling Will Go....

I'm working on two 4-tier wedding cakes this weekend with multiple fillings so I had a chance to see just how far a sleeve of filling will go:
I used one full sleeve of red raspberry and filled:
One 14" square
One 6" square
One 12" square
Then I mixed about 1/4 of a 2nd sleeve with some chocolate fudge icing to make chocolate-raspberry filling to use for:
One 6" round
One 14" square
I pipe a small dam and add filling that is just slightly more than 1/2 way up the height of the dam.
I've seen the question come up in threads before and thought it would be a good time to actually see how far it goes, and share with everyone.
Thanks a ton! I've been meaning to try some of these and that was definitely something i've wondered about!
Okay Indydebi, I will admit I'm a dork, where do you find the sleeve of fillings? Is this something that you can only get in the great Hoosier state, being from the Calumet Region orifinally myself, it is a great State!
I buy them at my local cake supply store but you can buy them at most cake supply stores online.

My cakes are 2-layer with filling. I dont' tort. THanks for asking! That will make a difference on how far you can stretch it!
Sleeved fillings... hmmm... tried them, and they taste like plastic! Ewwwwy!
Tried the bavarian cream and cream cheese flavoured. Glad I tried them before I used them, cause they were just gross...
I was thinking of ordering some of those flavors, Snowbuns, maybe now I won't. lol! I've used the raspberry, apricot and guava sleeve fillings so far. They all tasted fine, actually pretty good! I used them as filling for Linzer cookies and a few cakes. I never noticed a plastic taste.

Ooooo! That's a great idea!
thanks so much. I just bought a sleeve of rasberry yesterday. They only had one left and have to fill and 11 x 15, hoping it would be enough. I appreciate your sharing.
I shall try again, maybe I just had bad luck. I bet the fruit ones are okay!
Jen, thanks for the input, I will have to look for another brand perhaps. I can't remember if they had a name stamped on the sleeve or not.
I have seen string icing, in sleeves.... Any idea what this is used for?
For the lambeth method?? What kind of icing is needed for that?
Everyone always talks about how good the fruit fillings are. I think they are horrible and chemical tasting. The raspberry is bland and chemical. I wish I could find something besides henry and henry but although Ive asked several times, no one seems to be able to point me in the direction.
I think I did a two tier 9" and 6" cake, torted, and used just about 3/4 of a sleeve of raspberry. I mean, its worth it for the price and convenience I guess. My customers dont seem to mind. I did have a complaint about the henry and henry strawberry filling and had to give a refund because of it. The customer said it tasted like rotten fruit. I honestly didnt care for it either, but after hearing everyone say how great it is, I thought it was just me. Guess not.
I ordered mine from www.fondantsource.com and believe the brand name on the sleeves was Red Star. I can't really tell because most for the print came off of the bag.
Was this recently? Maybe they changed brands. I ordered from them before and all they had was henry and henry....actually....I placed an order with them and I think all I saw were henry and henry fillings but I just glanced....Ill have to double check that.
