|All About Me
||All of my cakes are gluten free. My husband has celiacs. I started making more and more cakes when he could no longer celebrate everyone's birthday at the office. He was left out of the cake and other snacks. I saw a simple decorated 4 inch round cake for $30 at the store and thought that was crazy! I'm too busy right now to make cakes for others, so I'm using this time to hone my skills. I forsee more time in my future in about 4-5 years. Hopefully by then I'll feel confident enough to take someone else's vision and create it.
I started my cake journey through an unusual avenue, clay; A Ceramics 101 class my last year of high school to be exact. It was meant to be an easy, sluff off class to fill in some extra credits, and I found I loved it. I tried to continue with clay for awhile, but it was difficult bringing it in for firing, picking it up, buying glaze each time in the desired colours...needless to say, this didn't continue past my first year at college. Then I took Wilton's first cake class. I enjoyed it. It gave me confidence to make cakes for my children's birthdays. Next I took the Fondant and Gum Paste class.
That was it, I was hooked. I enjoy trying new techniques and getting better. I enjoy looking at other cakes and getting ideas. I enjoy the shaping, modeling and creating. It is so much fun, and I've been able to bring some of the ceramics lessons from high school into the cakes.
- God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
- For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
