This was my first time doing a carved cake and my first time using MMF. It was for my brothers birthday and I did it with a friend of mine. It was a fun experience, I was able to see the obvious mistakes we made, and was able to think of other ways we could have made the cake more interesting. All with practice, I suppose!

Made for my husband who really loves the computer game "plants vs. zombies"
Cake covered in rolling fondant and sugarpaste, figures made of sugarpaste - the only thing not edible is the stake that holds the pepper upright.

For this cake I was asked to combine a female zombie with a kind of ed hardy design with peace signs. My sister did the zombie-she is AWESOME! Add a Tree Monster and some cool decorations and wah-lah! The cake came together and was almost a 3-D effect as tree branches jutted out from the cake. This one was made with a badly sprained wrist!

Zombie surf cake for a friends 8 year old zombie obsessed boy. Had a lot of trouble with this guy. Head is rkt covered in fondant, only used fondant 1x before, for something totally different. It was over 100degrees in my house while trying to decorate this guy. Lots of near disasters, but fun to make. Body is french vanilla cake, cookie dough filling, and bottom round is cookies and cream.

little play on photoshop to try and come up with my wedding cake idea! We've already got the topper, Zombie Spiderman and Mary Jane, and our colours are red and black. I think however the black and white cakes are striking, so white hexagonal 4 tiered (3 tiers fruit cake, 1 tier fake) covered in royal icing with gumpaste barbed wire and flowerpaste roses!

Engagement cake for a fan of the movie "Corpse Bride" and zombies. Cake is topsy turvy, decorated in the style of the movie, with a zombie hand made of modeling chocolate clawing out of the "dirt" on top.

My son wanted a zombie cake for his birthday. "Can you put lights in it's eyes mom?". This is what I came up with. The body is made from 4 8" layers of cake (shoulders down). The shoulders and head are made from rice krispie treats covered in modeling chocolate and fondant. Frame was made from 1/2" PVC. I forgot to take pictures of the frame before the cake went on, but will add pictures after the cake is gone. The lights in the eyes were a string of battery operated lights that I fished up through the PVC pipe. The eyeballs were made by melting gummy bears(for about 10 seconds, and pouring them into measuring spoons coated with PAM). they worked great. Thanks for looking.

The 1st 2 dolls (on the left) are cake (chocolate and chocolate BC). The other 2 dolls are rice krispies and the duck is gumpaste. All hand painted.

Yep...that's a zombie duck. The birthday girl likes zombies, Matryoshka dolls and ducks. I think I've got everything covered.

First attempt at carving a cake. Used 6 in on top & 8 in on the bottom. Cake is Red Velvet with MMF. For the blood I used raspberry preserves, the dirt is the cake taken off during carving. When my daughter's friend asked if I could do this, of course, I said "sure" but I had my doubts. All in all I'm pretty happy with the results even though it is not perfect.
