These were inspired by 'cookieswithdots' here on CC. I used the Williams-Sonoma cutters (which I fell in love with) and tried rolled marshmallow buttercream for the first time (which I also fell in love with). I've typically used royal icing for cookies, but these have so much detail I didn't want to be piping for days. I piped on Darth Vader with royal icing to give it some definition. These were a huge hit with my Star Wars fans! TFL!

R2D2 and Darth Vader were molded out of rice krispie cereal treats. Yoda is a combination of fondant and gumpaste. Swedish butter cake with a consistency similar to a pound cake and very strong and delicious butter flavor that remind me that of Madeleines. I filled it with a strawberry mousse and covered it with cream cheese frosting before I put on the blue MMF.

Yoda cake for friends. He's 4 6" layers and a rkt head and ears. I was kinda scared to try him, I'm not very good at making characters look like themselves. I think he sorta resembles a cross between ET and a Gremlin but they loved him, so I guess it worked.

My first attempt at Star Wars cookies. Made for my 8 year old neighbor boy. He was so happy and surprised! That's what it's all about....
Although I thought R2D2 would be tough (he wasn't), Yoda ended up taking that honor.
NFSC with Royal icing. TFL

Baby shower cake for a friend. DH is nav officer deployed a lot who was coming home 3 days after shower so I did a surprise top tier to save for him...and yes the baby's real name is Luke! "Real" cake was airplane themed. Only non food were the wires to attach the creatures too (which were modeling choc.) and flower stamens. Everything else was BC fondant/icing/modeling chocolate. Yoda was fondant and letters were handcut.

Will was having a birthday party and his mom, Holly, wanted a Star Wars themed cupcake set for him. Rather than doing people-like pictures, I decided to do a more cartoony-version of the main characters and here were the results. They were all topped with marshmallow fondant accents and each of them were hand-cut. So much fun!

I made my bonus son a Star Wars themed cake. He's completely obsessed with Star Wars although he can't watch them all yet. The cakes were covered in homemade marshmallow fondant and all of the designs and accents were also marshmallow fondant. Although I don't remember which flavors I made for his birthday, the kids ate it all up pretty fast at the party :) The characters were the real prize though because before we even sang Happy Birthday, each kid called a character. Hyrum got the light sabers.

I have to thank Lucas Films for allowing me to recreate these images for this cake and cupcakes. Most of the time, when I email a company for permission, I never hear back from them. Thank you so much!

24 Cupcakes, All Buttercream Frosting. I had to free-hand Yoda, Chewy and Darth for 3 best friend's 40th birthdays. Yoda was a pain and didn't come out so great, but they loved it :)

Here he is . . . the birthday boy asked for a root beer flavored standing 3D Yoda cake. He ended up being about 15" tall. His body is shaped from four oval root beer cakes, covered in buttercream frosting and edged in fondant ropes. I used a plastic canvas to make the texture of the robe. His hand and feet are made of fondant. His head is rice krispie treats with fondant molded to shape his facial features and hand-painted eyes. His ears are made of fondant formed around wires to hold the shape and are pushed into his head with lollipop sticks.

Thanks for looking!!

This is a 3-D cake of Yoda. It is by far the hardest cake I have ever done. The support structure is PVC and peg board. The body of the cake is chocolate with layers of vanilla bean, chocoale, and cookies 'n cream buttercream. The head is golden butter cake with honey buttercream filling. The ears are made of gumpaste, the arms, hands and feet are rice crispie treats. The entire cake is covered in MMF.

My sister asked me to make a Star Wars cake for my nephew. The cake was carved out of a sheet cake. He said we wanted some characters on it. So I added a Yoda and Darth Vader out of modeling chocolate.
