My little boy turned six, and we had a Star Wars themed party. I'm also posting a Darth Vader and an Ewok cake, so take a look! This Yoda was banana cake with a scratch caramel filling and caramel buttercream, with MFF ... SO tasty!!! All details MFF and a little gumpaste, and cakeboard done in royal icing. Thanks for looking!

For my little boy's sixth birthday. Also made an Ewok and a Yoda (take a look in my pics!). Darth Vader was a chocolate oreo cake with a cookies-and-cream filling. Thanks to BakingGirl for her tips!!! Chocolate MFF for the details, and royal icing for the cakeboard ... actually the last of the three cakes I finished, and the one I'm least happy with, but my little guys likes it, so I'm satisfied :). Thanks for looking!

Ok, here's a strange combo, but I think it works...Apartment warming for a young couple, from Kansas and Mississippi. He likes Star Wars, she-Dancing with the stars. So I've got a dancing Yoda and Leia wearing ruby slippers, the mirror ball trophy, the flowers are my try at magnolias-Mississippi state flower and the pot has "there's no place like home" painted on it. (the Kansas connection). At first I was trying to come up with a nice cozy housewarming as I wasnt given much direction, then I asked for some details and just decided to go over the top with it. As I was doing the dragees my son came in and said"Mom, less is more" one of my favorite sayings when the kids and I are doing crafts...sorry the description is so long.

My son is a Star Wars junkie. This was for his 5th birthday. I am self taught and I love to carve and paint cakes. I would love to go to a class, but unfortunately I am a rural location and there is nothing available. Thanks for looking...

Having seriously tried to decorate less than 10 cakes in my life, I took on a 3D Darth Vader and Yoda cakes for my nephew's 5th birthday. Cake is covered in chocolate MMF, only the second attempt at making it. It turned out better than I anticipated.

This is a Yoda cake I made for my neighbor boy's 7th birthday. It's a "Wildberry" cake with buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant. Rice crispy treats were used to make the head and shoulders, while the face/hands/ears are all formed from the marshmallow fondant. The base of the lightsaber is made of gumpaste, and the light part of the light saber is a glowstick. I know he would have made more sense in the Star Wars contest, but I just found this site--and the cake is from last weekend!

Yellow cakes covered in chocolate frosting. Ears are supported with wire that went through the head. Next time I'd make the head out or rice cereal treats instead of cake. The light saber is a lollipop stick covered in fondant. The rest is cake covered in fondant.

This was one exciting cake to make. Who does not love Lego's, Star Wars, and Cake? I love them all. I hope the birthday boy enjoyed the cake as much as I enjoyed making it. Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, C3P0, Yoda, Han Solo, and a Stormtrooper on on the cake with the death star and various Lego parts, and birthday boys name

This was my first try with Yoda. I was pretty impressed with myself, actually..LOL! Face, hands, feet, and stick/staff are made from MM fondant. The body is made with choc. buttercream and regular buttercream. He has little hair tufts in the back but they don't show up well in the picture.

All fondant, ears made of rice crispies and fondant.
I had lots of fun doing this... although I experienced problems all the way to the end: fondant kept breaking apart, the ears were too heavy at first (had to start over again), I realized that I did not have any dark luster dust anymore (at midnight the night before the event)!!!
But it was for a colleague at work who is leaving and I volunteered to do the cake, so I did not mind too much if it was not perfect.

Yoda face cookies for a 10yr olds bday. I found clip art online, handcut the head, then did all the detailing freehand. It was very hard, I am not an arist and faces especially of such a recognizable character are a bit out of my league. I hope he likes them, he only wanted the face. NFSC, antonia's ri

Buttercream covered light saber. I made this by baking the cake in an 8.5x11 cake pan. I cut it into strips, one being slightly thicker than the others, for the handle. I had to do a little carving to get it to taper nicely. I also had to go buy a 1" x 6' board to lay it on. I had my son's toy light saber on the table for inspiration.

This is my 2nd Yoda. I didn't like him as much as my first one but once he was made, he was made. The people that ordered him, loved him, so that is all that matters. Right? His head is made from rice krispy treats and fondant. His body is cake and buttercream.
