All the details of this cake came from my 5 year-old nephew! He knew exactly what he wanted. Miner's car is done in gumpaste/fondant mix and hardware was painted with bronze luster dust (stars too). Other accents are fondant and crushed oreo dirt.

This was my first ever belly cake and I am pretty darn proud that it came out AMAZING!!! I did not have the ball pans so I used pyrex dishes for all the parts. The cake itself is a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling then covered in MM fondant. I made it to match the colors and design on the wild blue safari party supplies. I also made some strawberry cupcakes with sky blue and brown buttercream to match. I am no pro, since I have only been making cakes for 3 months now, and this is definatly my best work yet.

This cake was made for one of my student's sweet 16 birthday. It's a three layer white cake with buttercream icing. The pole were made with white chocolate and the steps were handcarved..To form the curtains in the backdrop, I inserted dowels into drinking straws that bent. I then inserted one crosswise and draped fondant over it. I added some of her favorite things and the presence of the #16 as asked. Mr. Kitty was a representation of her boyfriend as one of her favorite things

My oldest son's birthday cake! The little stinker knew exactly what he wanted, too ... drew it up (will post in a bit) and specified how he wanted the "strawberry-backed poison dart frog", as opposed to the red-eye tree frog or some other inappropriate critter, hehe. A blast to make! Chocolate cake with cookie dough filling and dark ganache at the bottom; WASC with raspberry mousse and raspberry fruit filling for the green tier; Pecan French Toast (butter pecan cake with maple-cinnamon filling) for the blue tier and the tortoise up top. All fondant decorations, except the snakes which were RKTs covered in fondant. So much fun! Thanks for your comments! :)

I made this cake for a family member's boy baby shower. It is a fudge marble cake, with butter cream icing, covered in fondant. Then the zebra stripes and giraffe spots are fondant. The lime green border is butter cream. The animals I sculpted out of fondant and hand painted. The bows are ribbon.

Wild Things cake for my son's 1st birthday. All made out of MMF. Characters were drawn on MMF and painted with gel food coloring. Really could have used a lot more time and more scenes, but I hope it gives people ideas.

1st Birthday cake for my cute buckaroo of a nephew. This was my first time attempting to cover a cake in butter cream with Sharon Z's method, well to be honest, ANY kind of method. I wondered if I my dam was thick enough and I got a bulge, so I'm guessing no. I'll get it next time. My nickname for my nephew is "banana" so the cake was banana and lemon. This also explains the tiny banana sitting next to the guitar.

The birthday girl loves horses and gardening. The top tier features a pathway leading to a garden with roses, gerber daisies and an assortment of other flowers. One of Fay's garden statues is in the center of the garden. A horse is resting on the bottom tier with hand-painted wild flowers.

Recently while on holiday in the mountains, I was inspired by the beauty of the hummingbirds and the wild flower meadows and decided to try and capture it in a cake. This was my first time to try to sculp something -- the bird out of gum paste. I did the wings in several layers. I painted it with gel colours mixed with vodka (another first!). It was also the first time to use my new air brush on buttercream. Flowers are cut from fondant. Chocolate fudge layer and smaller white layer plus cupcakes for a surprise 85th birthday.
