I didn't care for the way this turned out. We were pretty rushed in class trying to get it done. I do like the colors pink, black and white though.
I didn't want to put the dots on the ribbon but one of my fellow students touched the ribbon with her finger that had food coloring on it. Since I didn't have time to redo the cake I just threw some dots on.
Working with fondant was fun and I think I will remake the gift box cake but spend more time on it.

Another cake that got the short end of the stick due to house renovations colliding with commitments. Lower tier was butter almond cake, top white chocolate cake, both with dark chocolate ganache filling (WC was AMAZINGLY YUMMY!). BC with royal flowers and fondant ribbon.

The 50+ groom was insisting that all wedding cakes are white (I was rude and told him..maybe when you FIRST got married..but not anymore! lol) I REALLY didn't want to do it.lol

So, this is what I came up with to keep withing the young brides' budget and the grooms requirements.

The final wedding cake is the one on the right. The one on the left is the one I liked, but the right is the bride's choice. It has chocolate cilinders and gumpaste roses and butterflies. The original design came from a cake I did last year, for an engagement, the original had gerberas and was only one tier. There is a banner on top of the cake saying "Congratulations on your wedding day, Vanessa & Kai, 19th August 2006". It took me a LOT longer than i had expected. The bride hugged me when she saw it.

Made for my niece, who just decorated her room in pink, black and white. This is a chocolate cake iced with peanut butter fudge icing, covered with marshmallow fondant. The circles of different color and size, were cut from marshmallow fondant and attached. It was my first try with the marshmallow fondant, and while it is tasty, it is harder to roll out as thin as regular fondant. The marshmallow fondant was too rich for the cake, so in the end it was pulled off just the same.

I actually made this for my son's Baptism, but it would make a gorgeous communion cake as well. All BC, and again I just trimmed a sheet cake to shape as I didn't have a cross shaped pan.

All BC, tiers are 6", 10", & 12" Satellite cake is 14". Since this was a second wedding the bride opted for a blanket of BC roses on the top tier instead of a traditional topper.

My baby cousin is joining the Marines. She is leaving for boot camp in a week. This was for her going away party. Its an edible image of the ribbon. I tried to make a red, white, and blue, ruffle around the botom. And I want to send a thanks to Doug for helping me come up with the verse.

I made this cake for some friends of mine that got married on Valentines day. They traveled into the Black Hills some 6 hours away. Didn't do too bad considering. There is a close up already in my pictures, but I like the finished product better. Thanks for looking! :-)

The little girl next door wanted to frost a cake with me. She picked the flavor of cake - chocolate. I baked it on Saturday and waited for her on Sunday to come decorate. Well it completely slipped her mind and I ended up doing it myself. It's chocolate with peanut butter filling, chocolate frosting with MMF daisy's and stripes

This cake was for someone who came home from the war in Iraq. The family wanted red, white and blue with a yellow ribbon. Thanks for everyones suggestions with this cake. I went with the one on the Wilton website, just my own spin with the bow and cake board.

This was for my sisters 10yr Anniversary....White Fondant with blue accent...those were the color of the decorations. I made the cake topper out of wire and some crystal beads from the craft store. Not too shabby for my first time at that topper, huh?! (hahaha!) Sorry the pic isnt too clear. And also wanted to thank Cupcakes for her help with this cake...I tried to do one of her designs but couldnt get it as nice as hers so I went for this look. But I truly appreciated her help! Thank you Cupcakes!

This one is 3 tiers in the middle.... then stairs going down both sides, leading to a 3 tier/layer Cake.
They wanted the Middle cakes to be WHITE, the ones on one side Chocolate, and the ones on the opposite side Strawberry.
There are white doves with pairs of gold wedding bands in various spots around these cakes!

This was for a woman who turned 71 and is still working!!! She didn't know I was making her a cake, so she was very surprised! My husband suggested the white daisies, and I later found out that the white daisies are her favorite flower.

I made this for my fiance's 21st birthday. He loves the Boston Red Sox. This was my first time ever working with Fondant. It was alot of work but really fun. The only problem i had was with the cakes. For some reason they didnt bake the right way, lol, but i still had lots of fun and everybody loved it!

Vanilla cake from scratch, vanilla syrup, all Buttercream.

Made for co-worker's son turning 8. I especially loved the colors. He mentioned super heroes and all that came to mind was "Captain America". I proposed the color pallette to him and he loved it as well.

Okay - I know - this cake was somewhat of a disaster start to finish - although they did tell me they thought it was beautiful and DELICIOUS! So at least that turned out good! The icing is NOT very smooth b/c it wouldn't crust - too much humidity. The cake is NOT straight and I have no idea why.... next time I'll try using a level but how can you do that on buttercream? Anyway - it's my second tiered cake and my first tiering it in this way. The bow is also my first and it turned out okay.

Well, the top tier of this cake fell apart. Completely split down the center. Granted, I didn't dowel it (mostly because I knew it totally sucked anyway lol)....but yeah. I had an order for a cake like this (different colors and another tier) so this was a practice...but didn't feel comfortable keeping the order as is. So we changed it to regular rounds. I just tossed the Care Bear on top for added decoration cause I think it's cute. :D
