This cake won first place in our festival for a western theme. It is decorated in rolled fondant. Sorry for the poor quality with the wrap on it. We didn't get a picture before they wrapped it. The middle layer is white buttercream icing piped on to make the paisleys. The horse shoes on top are solid rolled fondant. I think the bright colors really set this cake off.

My 8 year old daughter won 2nd place for this cowgirl boot decorated with rolled fondant. I had to help her get the shape right on the cake. She colored the fondant and rolled it out. I helped her do a lot of the smoothing and tucking on the finished end. I also helped her with the designing on the boot. She finished up with the sole and the spur but I had to help her get it to stay on the cake.

This was a challenge! I have stressed over this for a couple of months. I made a mold for the buckle, found some tooled fabric at Hobby Lobby and i rolled my fondant over it to make impressions and then dusted with black dust to bring out detail. Can't see it well in the picture. It was a fun one, but glad it's done!

14 " Marble sheet cake with crusting BC adorned with chili peppers & silver buttons. hat cake is chocolate with BC & MMF. Details: crown -3 layers 6" cake carved, smoothed with BC & covered in MMF. Brim - made 5 days ahead tried molding it on an upside down cowboy hat, had trouble, flipped it over onto a board and used cans hold the brim up. All my commotion made cracks, which I covered by adding a thin layer of fresh MMF on top. Whew, what a save. Black fondant and silver conch for hat trim.

This was for a small wedding for 35. 10" base cake with 6" topper. I was afraid the cake would look lost on top of the fountain, but maybe not too bad.....bride provided western themed topper and the little bales of hay (so cute!).

These were made for my (now) brother in law. Carrot cake with chocolate bc. Only family ate these, no one else would cut them. Many thanks to poshcakedesigns and doug. I was not able to get them to stand upright. Maybe next time.

My version of the western/cowboy cake. Inspired by the MANY MANY versions I found here on CC. Bottom tier is french vanilla cake w/vanilla buttercream. Top tier is chocolate fudge cake w/vanilla buttercream. Both covered with Satin Ice fondant. Rope is SI chocolate fondant mixed 1to4 w/SI vanilla to produce lighter color and flavor. Horse was sculpted using Debbie Brown's instruction and is out of SI chocolate & vanilla fondant mixed 1 to 4.

A great tutorial on CC got me started with this cake! My gumpaste brim
didn't really have enough drying time, so the curled edge drooped a bit
more than I would have liked. The button things actually have some
detail that you cant see in the picture. I used a daisy center stamp and
lighed brushed it with gold luster dust. I piped the bandana pattern, but
not as well as I would have liked! But if you squint it looks pretty good LOL!
