This was my first time covering a cake in fondant. I still need a lot practice.
6" & 8' round white covered in fondant with light green ribbon around the bottom. Poor lighting in photo. Constructive critizism welcomed!!!

This is a cake that I ALWAYS wanted to make....the version that inspired me was in round tiers and had lots of scroll work...I like the square look and since i can't do scrolls...i opted for tracing a pattern with royal and sticking it on...also...the inspiration cake had a bow at the top...and i didnt like how that looked either, so i scrapped it
comments/critiques appreciated...
also, with this cake i learned not to bother w/bc under the fondant...top tiers w/bc, 2 bottom without..

This was fun minus the stringwork :-( I don't think my instructor was too please with my non-white icing but I decided to use IMBC and you know that ususally comes out "butter" color.

Wish I could get a clear photo of this but it's so tiny my camera won't focus on it! I made this ultra mini out of fondant. It has a drape, roses and gold dots on the sides. Mini borders are ultra mini gold pony beads & columns are toothpicks . It's sitting atop an upside down wine glass so you can see the size in comparison. Maybe I should make one a bit larger so I can get a better photo! I LOVE miniatures! I used to use a bread dough/glue mix but fondant works great!

This was the wedding cake that I made for my Wilton's course 3 class. The roses are made of fondant. It seamed like each one took me an hour to make.

This is the first wedding cake that I have ever done. She gave me a picture from a magazine, my was pretty close to the one she wanted. each layer was a different flavour.

This is a fruit cake covered in fondant with build up royal icing. The flowers are made out of flowerpaste. This cake really looked effective but was very time consuming. I think the flowers on the top should have been smaller.

It is hard to see the details, but this cake turned out really pretty. The ribbon is actually fondant.

Ultra Mini fondant tier cake w/purple fondant roses. If you saw my last "ultra mini", it was really blurry so this is a big improvement from that photo, although it may still be a little out of focus, this was the best I could do. There's a second shot of it also. Enjoy

This was the first real cake Sue and I tried to practice for wedding cakes. It should be in the disaster file. We must have put the dowels in wrong and the whole thing kept sinking and and finally cracked and the bottom tier just self destructed! Any advice on the dowel placement and height? You can see the crack on the far right and the ruffel came away on the left. YIKES! Glad it was only practice!!!!!! Help!!!!

The cake was all buttercream with scrollwork. As you can tell by my middle tier, I had a little problem with bulging. I normally do fondant cakes, so I never had this problem before. I now know not to put my filling too close to the edge. Practice makes perfect right?!
