This was the first "wedding cake" I did for my church's 40th anniversary/bridal show. The picture is a bit fuzzy - but it's mostly white with ivory scrolls on the sides, calla lilies, roses and doves.

My first cake since I had my baby girl in December. It has fondant bows and roses. The icing is butter cream. I got the idea from a similar cake on this site. Thanks!

Here is a my second attempt to make a wedding cake. It was for a winter wonderland themed wedding. Buttercream iced with royal icing snowflakes and royal topper. The fondant trim is supposed to resemble snowballs...they were covered in luster dust, and the whole cake was sprinkled with cake sparkles...Fun to do!

This is a styrofoam practice cake for and upcoming wedding. I wasn't too happy with the smoothness of the icing. I wrapped the cake dummies is plastic wrap before icing with royal icing. the plastic started to pucker a bit. I plan to make one more practice cake before the big day in May

This is my third wedding cake. I really liked the design idea that the bride decided on. The Cornelli Lace wasn't hard at all to do and now is one of my favorite techniques! I arranged the flowers as well. I'm not sure of my greater love, flowers or cake! Thanks for looking!

This is the wedding stage of the 9 cakes. The roses are from royal icing, that was my first attempt to make roses from a small tip. I'm still learning to make the leaves. I just made them from a paper bag and cut the tip, then off I went. I didn't do a good job on that one I think :) Anyway, not bad for a beginner, is it? :)

This cake was a nightmare to make, so many things went wrong with it, and it made me sick with worry because i didnt think it was going to make it to the reception in one piece. Not having the proper boards and dowels like the instructions in CC didnt help. The base cracked, the icing cracked, i had to take it apart twice and reassemble and patch it up!!!
I made the bride and groom a few weeks earlier out of gumpaste, at least I know already that the bride and groom liked those as I sent them a picture.

My first wedding cake!! 16-12-8 16 is triple choc fudge with rasp. buttercream filling. 12/8 are white cake with vanilla filling. Bride was very happy with this. Yes the topper is a christmas tree topper, I thought getting it on the long dowel and getting it straight would be the death of me.

This was my first time making flowers and ribbons from fondant. I made this "dummy cake" for a Bridal Show display that I attended this past weekend.( First time at a Bridal Show too...) I based the design from a photo in a recent wedding magazine.

This cake was for a couple that have a pony ride service; they rent ponies for parties, etc. The trim is actually purple (matched the napkins perfectly and I'd not seen the napkin). Bride picked out the top!

Sue Bee and I did this cake inspired by a Wilton one in the fondant book. We've tried a few types of fondant, MMF included but are having trouble working with them. So far Wilton works best but dosen't taste good. Others taste good but crack and stretch on edges no matter what we do. Any suggestions PLEASE!!!!!

This was my graduation cake from the Wilton Course III. I made an Italian Cream cake with a cream cheese filling. I would have preferred using a cream cheese frosting on the outside, but our instructor wanted us to use "practice" buttercream. It was too sweet for the cake. I also decided that I really don't like string work.

This idea came stright from this website. The only difference was that I rolled out MMF and cut the same design with the same cookie cutter. It made for a very smooth surface to decorate. Then I added all details with royal frosting.

I had a bride who wanted to match a Ben-Israel cake she saw on tv. This is black buttercream with silk flowers. Bottom and top tiers are styrofoam. Note: Take and awl or screwdriver with you (and duct tape) if you need to insert flowers into Styrofoam. I think this cake is simply gorgeous.

This is my first big cake! I taught myself with the help from this site and help from the forums here. It's a 3 tier, pineapple filling, with the white wedding cake recipe and I used the Viva Method Crusting Buttercream icing-I used salted butter which seem to cut down the sweetness. Although the viva towel did not work-What worked was a water spray bottle. It's not that smooth, but hey, it's my 1st cake and I'm teaching myself. Thank to all who helped me with my ?'s and thanks to this site. :)

Bride wanted octagon shaped cake (cut corners off of squares), with pinstriped sides. Used a pattern press for an outline, and piped over w/ buttercream (mixed w/ piping gel).

This cake was designed (color too) by the bride - not one of my favorites, but I've actually received another order for a similar cake! To each his own! Large cake, to serve 325, whimsicle words on bottom, scrolls, and a Corinthians verse on middle tier (done on each side of cake).
