This was the cake that was suppose to have been done the weekend Rita hit Louisiana. All the flowers I had made, melted from the heat when we lost power. I got a call late Monday telling me the wedding was rescheduled for this Friday. The bows made previoussly from fondant had fallen didn't look right. I didn't realize it so I had my sister make bows from ribbon and used on the corners of the cake. The flowers are made from gumpaste and centers were brushed with magenta luster dust.

This was the first wedding cake I have ever done. I have not had a chance to take any classes yet and that's why I love this web site so much lol. You can't really see it...but above the bottom border is a flower border that was very pretty. And for the record I will never use a cake stand like this again....very unstable....espescially the top tier.

This was my frist (and probably only!) wedding cake. My brother got eloped in California and came home (Maryland) on their 1st anniversary for a "reception." I surprised him, and everyone else by making this wedding cake. It was a cake full of firsts for me too... first wedding cake, first teired cake, first roses...

This is a cake I whipped up last minute for a photo shoot. I've been asked to participate in a local Bridal magazine with all the top vendors in the area...and I'm the only cake decorator! The cakes are covered in ivory fondant with real ivory ribbon around each tier and royal beads on the tops and bottoms of the ribbon. The "police shields" as my husband so delicately calls them - are gumpaste molded from flex molds, then painted w/ gold luster dust. I added real flowers, no gumpaste this time.

Here is the cake I did for a wedding for tonight. As of this writing, the wedding hasn't even started yet!!! The setup turned out beautifully. It will be gorgeous in the darkened room tonight. Before I left the reception hall, The top tier was starting to lean forward. The bottom tier is a cake dummie. I doweled the middle tier and top tier, too because the cake topper seemed very heavy to me. I am a nervous wreck hoping it has stayed put.

All the cakes are white wtih buttercream frosting

A lady was getting married and asked for a small wedding cake for 10 people. I came up with this and only charged her $20 or so. She was so rude when she picked the cake up, saying that she hated the flowers! She said that she was going to remove them and put fresh flowers on it! I've never felt so insulted. I still think it's pretty.

I did my best to lighten the photos, but this is the only one to lighten enough. The reception site was ALL picture windows & the front of the cake was heavily shadowed.
The top was carrot, the middle chocolate, and the bottom vanilla. All covered in off-white buttercream. I wish I had gotten a better pic of the seashells as I was really proud of them. lol The where white & off-white with gold luster highlights.

I don't like my first wedding cake at all. So many imperfections and mistakes. I'm glad i got it done though. Made my teacher(who was the bride) very happy! The wedding was done a couple weeks ago. The wedding was on Saturday October 15th.

This is a cake I made while in Bishkek, Krygz Republic, for a nice couple getting hitched. I made it in conjunction with a volunteer assignment to aid a local bakery there through USAID - Pragma Corporation. Hope you like it.. The stand was made from scrap wood in their garage!

This is a wedding cake that was custom made for a Medieval themed wedding. At the bride and grooms request, the bottom layer is German Chocolate with traditional German chocolate filling and Chocolate Buttercream icing. The top layer is Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese icing.

The exterior decorations are made of fondant, royal icing, and buttercream icing. The entire cake is enhanced with shimmer dust to give it an iridescent glimmer.

Hard to see details, but this is my first cake show entry...a baker with a destroyed kitchen dropped her bottom tier of a wedding cake with only an hour before deadline. Something we can all relate to, I'm sure!

This was a cake I did for a family in our church. It is all strawberry cake (6" and 10") with BC icing. The family told me what sizes and flavors they wanted and left the rest of the creative design up to me. It's my 5th wedding cake and I am pleased with the outcome! Thanks for looking!

This is my brother and sister-in-law's wedding cake. She and I designed this together. It is chocolate, white and strawberry cake. Iced in ivory BC. The flowers were fresh pink roses. My brother made the cake toppers out of metal. I baked this cake and made all the icing here at home and traveled 9 hours and put it all together. On top of that, I was a bridesmaid, my 1 year old was a ring bearer, and my husband was co-officiating the wedding. We were BUSY that weekend! Thanks for looking!

These chocolates (yes chocolate) :) were all hand made by me. They are also flavored! Butter rum, vanilla butter nut, coconut, and mint to name a few. It is eatable art! People can't believe that they are eatable and that they are chocolate. Most people think they are REAL shells! You can see some of the other shells I have been making on my website www.danasflowers.net Enjoy!

This cake was made for the head guy in charge of restoring airplanes at our local flight museum. I made an airplane mold for the little airplanes on the cake (that was the big hit). Then created the scene of the airport (all in chocolate) to the side. Everyone loved all the planes and couldn't believe they were chcoclate

This is a double decker mudcake, filled with white chocolate mudcake.
Decorated in buttercream with buttercream roses. The plaque was made with a new recipe and piped in royal icing dusted with silver poweder. This was an 8 inch cake, for a very small wedding. Total of 20 people. I loved making this cake. Very nice and simple

I made this for some friend's of our's for their November wedding. I decided not to make the snowflakes out of royal icing like the book called for. Luckily it was a fake cake, so I just went to Michael's bought some sparkly plastic ones.
