This cake was based on the party invitation that the little boy picked out himself. I don't have cool software to put the two together, but oh well. The invitation looked like the top tier basically, it was blue with the polka dots and the little fish at the top. The mom and the little boy LOVED it so I was pleased.

This was a design by Edith Meyers , but we changed the colors of the waves, flowers and added a 5th tier. My FIRST (!) attempt at wired and taped gumpaste ranunculus (thank you shirleyw!!!) and freesias (i'm sure they are not totally botanically correct, but i am proud :-) ) , as well as accent fantasy flowers. fondant and dragees.

1/4 sheet cake, WC icing. The "surfer" is a plastic figure the customer gave me. The volcano is a "mini wonder" cake with chocolate ganache for the "lava". This cake was 1 of the 2 cakes for a "Hawaiian themed" birthday party for a brother/sister- "she" asked for a "beach" (also uploaded here). "he" asked for a "Silver Surfer" (Fantastic 4) cake. TFL!

This was for a friend's daughter's Rainbow Girls Worthy Advisor induction ceremony cake. The wave was dried rolled fondant mixed with gumtex then covered with royal icing and painted to match the Pastry Pride. Thanks to the advice some of you gave me regarding the wave! The forum on this website is awesome!!!! :)

2 8" layers iced in BC with mmf accents. I found a 3D foam pirate ship template at Michaels on clearance and I used it as a template to cut out the mmf. I am very pleased with how this one turned out. TFL!!

Hummingbird cake with cream cheese icing, cream cheese icing bubbles and fondant rubber duckey! This was made for my one year old nephew. I had the icing all nice and smooth, then my mom suggested I make it have little waves like a kid in a bath would, so I did and I think it looks better like this! Very easy, quick cake to do but still cute and fun!! Thanks for looking!!

This is for a woman's 60th birthday; she loves the beach. It is a banana
chocolate chip cake with chocolate mousse filling. This party originally was for 40 people and went up to 100 and I ended up doing this 2-tier cake + a sheet cake (picture to follow)

My first wedding cake! Did this one last July and am just getting the photographer's photos back. Inspired by a cake in Martha Stewart Weddings, I believe it was a Wendy Kromer design, since most MSW cakes are. Covered in stamped fondant with fondant painted bamboo trims and silk flowers provided by the bride.

This one has whipped cream frosting which was so much fun to make waves with in the "water". The characters are on all sides of the cake.

This cake was made for a client's daughter's 10th birthday. She loves to surf! The cake is covered in fondant and airbrushed. The "wave" was made from fondant on tylose powder and laid over a 2 liter bottle to dry. The palm treees are pretzels with choholate fondant. I painted the little girl's bathing suit to match the one she was wearing the day of her party. Thanks for looking!!

Groom is a wake boarder, so this groom's cake was ordered. His boat was mimicked in fondant with the bride driving, and the groom is floating above the cake in a wake board stunt. Small silver wire supports him.

Started with a two layer 9x13 cake, carved out the surfboard from the top layer and used the pieces to extend the bottom layer for the water. Used Wilton's Sparkle gel, in a tube, for the water. It really has a cool look to it. The rubber chicken is because the birthday recipient collects rubber chickens.

I love making cakes that are whimsical and not your typical wedding cake. I was quite pleased with the result and I hope the bride and groom like it too! All fondant and gumpaste decorations.

This cake is covered in MMF with MMF waves, bubbles, soap and sign. The effect of the water on top is done using blue colored piping gel. Rubber duckie is covered in buttercream. This cake was duplicated from a photo someone found on the internet, so I don't know who to thank for the design.

This was for a 50th birthday party...a replica of the man's sailboat. I needed 50 servings so I got the idea to do the wave crest. Everything is cake except for the bow of the boat and a small piece at the back of the boat. The sail was gumpaste, and over 2 ft tall!

client requested nautical themed cake, this is what i came up with. original design featured teh black and white striped lighthouse in st augustines florida, but two days before the wedding, i found out the historic b & b would not allow a cake with those colors to be displayed indoors, so i had to do some quick scrambling to come up with something else. after a 22 hour marathon of decorating, i was exhausted but i think i finally made the bride and the owner both happy. sorry pic is so dark!

I made this for my friend's son, it was a hawaiian theme party but he wanted no flowers on the cake. I made the surfer and surfboard out of fondant and wrote his name and age on it, seashells and totem are white chocolate. Bottom cake is vanilla with nila crumbs to look like sand and top is chocolate, everything is frosted with PP ( I put a piece of foil between the PP and fondant surfboard, it work very well) :)

1st tilted cake. For my son's 3rd grade end of year pool party. Beach ball idea came from sugarshack's cake - thank you sugarshack for the template to do the ball. learned much with this cake. Tilted cake with buttercream and warm day = difficult assembly. Everyone at the party raved about it. I love hearing "I was so excited to hear you were doing a cake this year - not only do they look good they taste great too"
