I already posted this picture but after looking at the cake I thought it needed more. So I added an ice chest and a radio. Everything edible except for the antenna on the radio.

I made this cake for the Gator Gala with the theme of "Set Sail for Discovery" and the purpose of raising money for breast cancer research. The waves between the tiers are gum paste, and the sail boat is fondant-covered rice crispy treats with a gum paste sail.

This is an undersea theme birthday cake for a 4 year old. Wanted pinks and greens mainly. As you can see it has a lot going on. Perhaps a little too much!

This was a cake I did for a Luau Party. The Volcano was erupting smoke when we added dry ice and water. Volcano was made of cake covered with Buttercream Icing, the beach was a cake covered in fondant, the Tiki huts were also cakes, The tiki masks and toches were also made from fondant. The water was made by covering the board with various colors of blue fondant, then covered with piping gel and the wave were made using buttercream icing.

I made this cake for my son's birthday a couple weeks ago. I create invitations and wanted his cake to match the invitation I had designed for him. I was worried about how the palm trees would look as a "silhouette". I should have worried more about the waves, because they gave me a really hard time! : ) Top layer is chocolate cake, bottom layer is vanilla cake. Both covered in buttercream icing with fondant accents. "Sand" is crushed vanilla wafers. Wish I would have crushed them more - was rushed.

I made this cake for a friend's daughter's birthday. Confetti cake with buttercream icing. I used crushed Graham crackers to make the sand. The drink umbrellas and flowers were part of the party decorations used to bring the cake together.

My client was interested in an economical beach wedding cake, and loved the cake done mariela_ms, which is apparently tonedna's design. Cake is in buttercream with fondant waves. Shells are made of white chocolate dusted with luster dust to match the sheen of the cake topper.

Made for a surf loving co-workers farewell party. WASC with SMBC and lemon curd filling. I iced each layer in a different ocean color and thought it looked too flat so I mottled the colors by smoothing a little room temp white icing on the layers after they set up in the fridge. First time with WASC, SMBC, stacking tiers and making lemon curd. So many firsts but I am very happy with how it all turned out. The guest of honor liked it too (which is the most important part anyway!)

Made this for my twin daughters. After a recent trip to Hawaii, they requested a Hawaiian themed birthday party. The wave is RKTS with candy melts added for strength and stability. Palm fronds, beach towel, hula girls, flowers and surfboards are all gumpaste. Palm trunks are tootsie rolls. Sand is crushed graham crackers and water is blue buttercream with blue piping gel over it to give it the effect of water. TFL!

Two tiers, chocolate/chocolate ganache and butter cake with apricot and hint of orange buttercream came together for this 10-14" square cake celebrating our unit meeting theme of "Catch the Wave, Get on Board" Molded white chocolate palm trees, shells and surfboard adorn the sandcastle, covered with a mix of graham cracker, vanilla wafer and dark brown sugar. The shape of the castle was dictated by the shape of the hospital building. Fondant waves painted with Wilton sparkle gel splash across the bottom tier, as well as buttercream icing, with writing in the same gel.

This is a wedding cake for my uncle and his wife. The wedding colors were red and white and the theme is based around the ocean (they got married in Hawaii). I wasn't quite sure how to incorporate the ocean around red and white so I felt the swirls between the red and white were abstract "waves". The orchids and roses (which are the flowers she had in her bouquet) were the first gumpaste flowers I have ever made, I think they turned out quite nice. I have done the whip cream, buttercream and fondat roses but I really liked the way the gumpaste turned out. The seashells were made of white chocolate. The bottom cakes are, 5 individual 6" rounds, each one a different flavor (we have white with choco buttercream, choco with peanut butter buttercream, lemon with lemon buttercream and strawberry cake and banana cake with a strawberry banana buttercream with real bananas sliced in it, and last strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream). The top two tiers are yellow cake with buttercram and the biggest two layers are chocolate with peppermint buttercream. The layer sizes (from top to bottom) are 6", 8", 10", 12" and the 5 indiv. 6"'s. The 10" cake (the tallest of the layers) kind of settled during the 2 hour drive to the reception but if that was the only casualty, I am ok with that. TFL

This was a wedding cake I made for a gift for my best friends' father's wedding. His fiance wanted a wedding cake like she saw of a picture on here. She wanted purple ribbon added. This was my first wedding cake and cake over three tiers high. This is a butter cake covered with buttercream icing and white chocolate chocopan. This is what the bride wanted.

Thanks to mac95 for the idea. I made this for three of the graduates of a therapy group I led. A main theme of the group is learning to "ride the wave of emotion". It is a vanilla cake with chocolate pudding filling. The "sand" is graham cracker crumbs.
