I made this cake at a demo for my store. One just like it was featured on the cover of our class catalog, so I reproduced it at the demo. We got a lot of class sign-ups that day! The basketweave and rope borders were done with buttercream. The violets & violet leaves made separately ahead of time out of royal icing.

This is a french vanilla doctored cake mix with Wilton Class Buttercream icinf and royal icing flowers. Wilton Buttercream is not my first choice, but it was a humid, rainy day so I wanted something I new would be pretty stable. This was a cake just for the ceremonial cut, as there were 80 people at the dinner and there was no way I could bake enough cake and get it there. I was worried it was too informal, but it suited the celebration to a 't'. My grandparents loved it and that's what matter most.

This is just a tiny cake I baked in a metal bowl w/left over batter from the several dozen cupcakes I made for Mother's Day. All of the mom's in my life received cuppies, the mini cake was just for my mom. She loved it, lopsided and all. :) French Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream and Buttercream/Raspberry Preserve Filling. The butterfly is fondant dusted w/pink luster dust. Thanks for looking, and Happy Mother's Day!

I put this in the anniversary category as it was made for a church's anniversary. It would make a sweet wedding cake for early spring! Could also be a sweet, feminine b'day creation.
The tiers are 14, 10, 6 -topped w/a 1/2 ball, and two 8"ers - all iced in buttercream. Violets are air-dried b'cream. The white things on the sides are tiny grape clusters - royal icing similar to lace points - which was a mistake as they were hard:(
Butterflies are royal filigree that were painted w/gold highliter dust. The over-the-fountain display has lots of asparagus fern and some cupids.

Sorry, I accidentally delete the photos I posted yesterday so here's another attempt at uploading my latest cake. This topper is made out of 24 violet fondant/gumpaste roses dusted with violet lustre dust. I made this cake for my futur daughter-in-law's bridal shower. I like how it turned out, more importantly she liked it!! Cakes are 8" chocolate, 10" white with grossgrain 1" purple border with 1/2" violet flower border.

Thanks to cakepro for the red velvet recipe, and to shopneday for the decorating idea. Things that went wrong with this cake: 1. the cake fell apart when I took it out of the pans- thankfully it didn't completely break, so I was able to hold it together with the icing. 2. the icing wouldn't stick to the cake, especially around the corners (it's only my second time doing a square cake!). 3. I broke at least one petal off each daisy! If anyone knows the secret to making RI daisies that don't break, let me know, b/c otherwise I'm never making them again!

This is just a cake I baked for my daughter to share with her co-workers. I wanted to practice and also use some of the flowers I made in my Wilton Course #2. I still need LOTS of practice, but everyone loved the cake!
