This was my interpretation of the Bright Blossoms Pooh cake in the 2008 Wilton yearbook. I thought to myself, "why make fondant flowers when I still have flowers from course 2" so I used those and was so happy with my cake. This was the first time I've done a character pan & it was harder than I thought because you have to think backwards. The insert they give you is oriented the same way as the pan but when you flip it...This cake was for Ida, age 15 in foster care- she was giddy when she saw it! NICE!

I made this cake for my first cake decorating competition (I got 2nd place in the 13-17 age group) and was very pleased with the results. Although you can't see it very well in the picture I did a basketweave on the side of the cake and wove african violets into it. Thanks for looking!

I saw a plant "wedding favor" in Martha Stewart and made it into a mini cake. Chocolate cake in 4" brown paper cup -- royal icing flowers -- cake crumbs for dirt -- fondant leaves and stems.

This is the largest cake I've ever made. Did this for my best friends parents 50th Anniversary party. Bottom tier is WASC with raspberry filling, middle is White Chocolate Poundcake with raspberry, top is yellow cake filled with bc. All iced in bc with royal icing violets and leaves. Feeds 115. Not perfect but I was very pleased with the results as were her parents and guests. Thanks for looking.

The baby's name will be Violet, and the nursery is pale green & purple. Booties from gumpaste, violets from royal icing, rest is a cream cheese buttercream on chocolate cake (mom's favorite).

This is similar to one I have done before, but a friend loved it, and so her husband has ordered it as a surprise for her birthday tomorrow. I decided though to change the colours a bit. Flowers are artificial, and little swarovski crystals on front of cake.

This is a buttercream wedding cake I did for a gal I work with. We both work part time at the Disney Store and of course are big Disney FREAKS! She wanted a three tier cake with Mickey heads on the sides instead of the usual dots. And I came up with the simple dot on dot border for the bottom edges. Which if you looked closely looked like hidden Mickeys on it. The flowers are royal icing. It's a 6, 10, 14. My first wedding cake as well. I actually loved how it turned out and am very happy with it

My instructor said my roses were nice, thank goodness! I have messy handwriting and they made us write something...so I put my daughters name on it. I wish I had better handwriting.

This was my entry for the one tier capital confectioners beginner category in Austin. I was pretty happy with it. I brought ribbon to put around the edge of the board but forgot scissors to cut the ribbon! There's more roses hidden under the royal icing dome on top. This is my second dome. The first one was much bigger and easier to see the roses inside but my DH broke the first dome trying to palm it like a basketball.

This is a cake I made for my Grandmother's 80th Birthday Party. It is a 1/2 sheet cake, iced in buttercream with royal icing flowers.
It gave me a lot of trouble and the icing cracked a bit in the 2 hour car drive. My grandmother loved the flowers and wouldn't let anyone cut that part of the cake.
