Some of 38 sugar cookies I'm giving as gifts, made with the vintage Christmas card images from Fancy Flours. We had a snow day, so I had a great time with my luster dusts, royal icing, dragees, silver sanding sugars and edible glitters! I LOVE how these looks, but I don't think anyone is going to want to eat them! I also made mittens and round cookies.

Accidental success! I still have not mastered estimating how much Bettercream to whip - so orignal plan was to add choc. syrup for the filling for this choc. cake. I whipped SO much I just went ahead and frosted the whole cake with it. My MMF poinsettia leaves and berries were very bright (originally planned on a white frosting) so I toned them down a little with liquid pearl, brown gel mixture and painted on. The look is very muted and actually doesn't look too bad.

I covered the cake in chocolate. Hand painted, and etched it to look vintage. Some of the photos are edible photo prints, others are hand painted. Everything is edible. 20"x11". Thank you for looking.

It's not perfect but I was SO happy with the way this cake came out! It's only my 3rd wedding cake and the best by far. It was my Aunt's wedding cake and my Mom who has become interested in cake decorating helped me. She made the pleats and some of the gumpaste flowers. (she's never worked with fondant like that before!)

My husband and I have been married 25 years today! To celebrate, we are going to dinner at a fancy steak place. I had the pleasure of being able to make our own cake for dessert! The vintage topper is from our original cake. My husband does not like fondant, so I used Indydebi's buttercream... works so beautifully. Thanks for looking!

How to describe this cake... The bride wanted copper zebra stripes, and feathers and pearls. The topper is a gumpaste frame with a picture. The reception was so neat and had all these vintage frames with the couples pics hanging fron the ceiling. My hubby came up with the idea to make frame borders on each tier to tie it all in. Way to go hubby! (I was stuck- I have carved the cakes in a little at the bottom, so the plates stuch out and my pearls borders were too little.)

I didn't like the uneveness under the fondant, but guests pointed out that it gave the cake a classic "vintage" look and they thought it was intentional:-) Isn't it great how things work out?!

I did not have a lot of time for this one, so it was left quite simple. It was based on a gift box that was going to be used for a birthday present. Since the box came from a second hand store, I thought I'd stay with the "retro vintage" look. Colors were kept quite soft to give it a bit of a 50's feel. It's an 8" cake...SUPER chocolate flavour. It's actually the first cake I've ever made entirely from scratch. All decoration is in fondant.

A standard 3 tier wedding cake design, with embossed pattern on the fondant icing covering, which was then brushed in pearlised dust. Top tier was chocolate sponge, middle was rich fruit and marzipan (almond paste) and the base cake was victoria sponge with jam and buttercream filling. A ring cushion was placed on the middle tier and a sprig of roses, ivy and leaves was on the base cake. A bridal portion was cut into the bottom tier, covered on its own, beribboned and replaced into the cake, secured once more by piped icing. The vintage car was made piece by piece out of a special modelling icing and left to dry. Once dried, all the pieces were assembled and stuck with edible glue. Parts of the car were painted in silver food colouring to bring out the fine detail. A satin ribbon was added and pearlised dust brushed over it to complete the effect.

double barrel base and normal top (told you this shape was ridiculously popular at the moment) this one is a 9" x2 and a 6" tiers and is baileys liquer mud in a combination of drk choc (double barrel) and white choc top , ganached and covered in fondant, toppers are hand made from craft wood and diamantes ribbon is satin and plaques are made gumpaste and hand painted with swarovsky crystal detail in the ladies hair and pearl detail on the gentlemans shirt. this would have to be in my top 5 fave designs totally into the silhouettes/vintage style at the moment!!

Our 1977 wedding cake, made by unknown baker at wedding venue. It was white with salmon/peachy roses. I have no idea what the filling was, and I'm pretty sure the cake was vanilla. Note the tilting cake and lop-sided cheesey plastic topper. On our first anniversary, we threw out the freezer-burned top tier and the grease-soaked topper. Aaaaahhhhh.........Memories!
Don't miss the bridesmaid smoking in the background, right next to the cake!
Doesn't the cheap, fake lily of the valley give a nice touch?
