This was kind of hard for me to picture...a luau cake for a boy! The surfboard and tiki hut are suggestions from the boy's mother. The entire design is drawn freehanded and filled in with airbrush coloring. The smash cake was done to resemble a beach ball. I love this cake.

This one really isn't the best cake I've done by far. I learned a lot from it of what I won't do next time. They were happy with it though. The flag, of course, is hand painted fondant and the rest is chocolate buttercream.

This cake was inspired by a Debbie Brown book. I chose to alter it a bit as I needed to make a much bigger cake than what was called for and I had special critter requests. The cake consists of six 6" torted cakes with Raspberry filling and Butter Cream, covered in MMF. All decorations are MMF too!

This was done for my husband's family reunion. It was copeid from the 2007 Wilton yearbook with some variation. I put grass on under the tree and cookies in the grass which represent those family members who have died. They're cookies who fell from the tree. In front of the tree sats two rocking chairs with cookies in them which represent my husband's mamaw and papaw. I can't wait for the family to see this cake. I really think they're gonna love it.

The tree is pastillage painted with powdered food colors mixed with Everclear, the leaves are rice paper, and everything else is either fondant or gumpaste.

It's hard to see, but there is a hand pushing open a door on the top of the treehouse. Because it was for a competition, I even made a door under the cake. I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive. :)

The best view of the cake done for a graduate with degrees in geology (ie the rocks) and music. He's an avid outdoorsman, too. The cake is chocolate/white/yellow. Most of the decoration is buttercream. Man is made of marzipan. Writing & guitar are made of royal icing.

This is a cake that I made for my sister-in-law's birthday yesterday. She used to work with elephants at the zoo, hence the inspiration for the cake. It is a mocha cake with Bailey's Irish Cream filling. The details are piped in chocolate and the palm trees are Pirouette cookies with buttercream leaves.

I made this cake for my brother who collects dragons. The dragon and the wizard are made from MMF. The path was made with MMF, and imprinted with a hexagon cookie cutter to look like slate. The trees are plastic dowels covered in MMF with BC leaves on floral wire. I hade a good time making this, and my brother loved it!
