I just finished making these. The wagons are not assembled because I'm taking these pieces out of state, where we'll celebrate my daughter's 1st bday. I'll post a pic of the finished cake when it's done. Everything made of gumpaste. Wagons made out of pastillage. Thanks for Looking

My second Thomas Cake. I liked the face on my first one better. I started to get rushed on this one. But i like the colors and the sides of this cake better. Unfortunately, I balanced another box on the top corner and the icing flattened out a little...But that's not something my 3 year old noticed; so no biggie.

I did the train faces in the tunnels all in fondant, along with the tracks on top and the Happy Birthday. I baked 3 12" pans of cake. This cake was a little over 6" tall. The cake had to be large to accommodate the flashlight Thomas toy.

Each of the train faces with the tunnels took me about 40 minutes to do. I only did 4. There are none on the back side.

Used recipe included with the pan, used egg substitute instead of eggs. BC icing with candy in the hopper car wells. The cake wasn't popular with the kids at my son's birthday party, but the adults liked it.

Victoria sponge, fileed with buttercream and strawberry preserve and covered in fondant. Train made from fondant and painted. This was for my 2 year old son on his christening. His 4 year old brother was christened on the same day and his cake is around here somewhere. Was going for something simple and classic.

This is my interpretation of Thomas the Tank Engine. The face is made of fondant and was created using Wendysue's tutorial (THANKS!). The cake is yellow inside and BC outside. The small smash cake locomotive is made from 1 cavity of the Williams Sonoma train set pan and is also yellow inside and BC. The Thomas cake is not made with the Wilton Thomas pan is made from the Little Train Pan!

My first time doing a shaped pan. I didn't know how long these could take to do, especially just when you are new at cake decorating. I have gotten faster in the past few years. Thank goodness LOL!!! Thanks for looking!!!

They said they wanted a train on a cake, so I bought this toy from the dollar store, they liked the cake, and the child got to keep the train set.

This was my first Thomas cake, thanks to Wendy's (sorry can't remember CC name) tutorial. I used a WASC cake, and I think it settled somewhat so made so of my proportions off. I was happy with the way he turned out though. It was for a baby shower, and needed to say "It's a boy" so I envisioned the words coming out as puffs of smoke...I'm not sure if I got the point across with that one, lol!

I couldn't find a train cake pan, so I sculpted the train with Rice Crispie treats, and covered with fondant.

Sorry for the double upload!!! This Is the front, EE is for the Eddie Express!! The movie "The Polar Express" made a big impact on my son's little friend this Christmas. I had intended to do a sheet cake, but little fingers asaulted the train, and I had to spend time repairing it. I ended up using rounds I had ready and iced for another project that I had hoped to do for fun that weekend. You can see the little finger poke on the front window.
I would love to try this again doing a Christmas train.

Cut and Stacked out of sheet cakes, directed by my oldest son JJ on how to do everything "train like." We raided the candy store to fill the cars. The engine was sour cream pound cake. Then we had a couple chocolate cars and the rest Lemon Creme cake. It was iced in Buttercream throughout! Yum and such a hit with all the kids!

I added another half length onto the end of the cake so that the whole train could fit and then we had to put it on a big piece of plywood to support it.
I used to Train Pan from wilton and then I baked a small square cake and cut it in half and stacked it to make the box car. The top of the box car was filled with m&ms.

This was a cake for boy/girl twins 1st birthday. The trains/tracks are plastic and the drum sticks are lollipop sticks with gumballs stuck on the end. Everything else is buttercream except the little flowers which are fondant.

Not some of my best work. I had ordered the Thomas Kit, but it still hadn't arrived by the day before the party. I used the instructions from the kit and improvised with fondant and candy...of course the kit arrived a half hour before the party started. I wasn't going to mess with it then! The kids seemed to like him...I think he's hideous...

This is a train cake that I did for my nephew's first b-day. The actual train cake was Oreo cookie cake, and each train car was a different flavored cake; they were lemon cake with coconut cream filling, marble chocolate chip and almond sour cream cake with raspberry cream filling. Oh! and the railroad station was made of chocolate cookies covered in fondant.

Done with motivation from a cake on here by flymykite. I was originally going to take ideas from several different train cakes on the site, but just liked this one the best. Buttercream icing and fondant accents.
