This train cake is a buttercake covered in buttercream and decorated with assorted lollies. It was inspired from the Australian Womans Weekly Childrens cakes book.

Mini loaf pans made for a great train. Each child recieved a cake to eat. Chocolate cookie balls were the "coal" on the train.
My FIRST experiance with fondant. Will have to work at it. The kids were not impressed with the flavor of of the fondant, but loved the look. All in all it turned out ok.

My son loves trains so for his second birthday I made him this choo choo train cake. I used the Wilton train pan and some plastic figures for the animals and conductor--all cream cheese buttercream with a few M&Ms on the wheels and light. From the moment this pan entered our house, my son was very excited. He'd point to the pan and say "choo choo". I decorated the cake last night and he wouldn't go to sleep until it was finished. The only other time he's acted like that was on Christmas Eve!

Wow this cake was something else to make. What a project. This is a double layer 10 inch round cake garage with some of Thomas's Friends. Thomas is made from 2 loaf pans pieced together. Thomas had a hard time staying together and that's why he looks like he's going down hill. My boy loved it though and that's what counts.

Here is my first attempt at Thomas for my son's 3 year old birthday. It was a little harder to decorate at times because he would come out and want to help with the icing. You can even see the spot on the bottom where he swiped some icing. He kept bumping the table and the cake....But he loved it. I have another Thomas cake to do for the party...any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

This is my labor of love for my delicious 3 yr old. An upsherin is a ceremony for a Jewish boy's first haircut. The trains were made from the william sanoma cake pan. My first time working with fondont. The cookies are the letters of the hebrew alphabet. I had a fun time making this cake! Thanks for all of the inspiration!

Did this for my little brother's birthday. Had to send it through the mail, hence the light decor. Cake is a double layer 10" chocolate cake with strawberry filling and iced with buttercream and fondant.

This was my first cake ever before taking the Wilton class. My son wanted a choo choo cake for his 2nd birthday so I went all out and got the 3-D Wilton pan. It took me several hours to decorate it, but was well worth it. This was done Jan 2006 and now I have taken 2 of the Wilton classes and know what I am doing.

The cake is done in all Wilton class Buttercream icing.

This cake was made for the Childrens Christmas Party at the Firehouse. It is all edible except for the ramp which is just covered in icing. The Xmas trees are ice cream cones, as are the the castle towers. The door to the castle is in candy clay, and has candy dot toppers. The marshmellow men are covered in white chocolate and have the 3 chief's id's on thier heads in the sleigh which is chocolate molded from my tupperware. The Santa head and the elves are royal icing.

This was for a little boy who loved the Polar Express movie, just white loaf pan cakes stacked and trimmed into the correct shape. The cars are just hauling "oreo coal crumbs", man does this family love the mint oreos, lol!

This cake was my first encounter with fondant. The base is a white cake with strawberry icing. I could not get this icing to smooth very well, thus the messy base. The train is made of chocolate cake covered in fondant. The decorations are fondant and candy.
