This was my first attempt at a more creative cake. Our son was turning 3 and in love with trains. It is a gluten-free cake with buttercream icing (which I made too thin). The trees, rocks and grass are royal icing. Lake is piping gel. Toy trains on top.

This was a chocolate cake with buttercream. The trees are sugar cones and the tracks are fondant. The train was just a toy I bought because the trains that I was trying to make out of fondant looked more like cars. Thanks for looking.

My son loves reading his Thomas books, and I wanted to portray the Island of Sodor where Thomas the Train lives. All buttercream.

Train tracks, roads, houses, trees and rivers. Toy trains were to be added.
Suppose to represent the "Island of Sodor" from that Thomas series.

I did this for my nephews birthday. Caboose is filled with m & m's, and the middle car is loaded down with chocolate covered pretzel sticks. And yes, that is a real working light in the front of the engine.

this was for a 4 year old boy's birthday and he loved it. It also seems that children and adults alike are attracted to the grass. 3D train pan on two 12 x 12 squares. All chocolate cake and buttercream frosting.

This was the first time I tried making a themed cake. It was the anniversary of a group of us starting work on the railway as engineers so I made this cake like one of the engineering trains we use at work. Everyone thought it was amazing and although it is no where near as good as alot of the ones on this site I was really happy with the results!

This cake was made for a boy turning 2...I asked the mom if she wanted a red engine and she said that green is his favourite colour, and yes, she also wanted red, but she didn't want it to look like a Christmas train...not sure if it does or not! Carved the cake myself...buttercream frosting.

These are "bite sized" iced Christmas cookies. I used NFSC and Antonia's icing. I seem to like them better I think than the larger ones because they are small. Their tininess makes them cuter than the bigger ones I've done. I like the large ones too, just for some reason I really liked the bite sized ones.

I used the new Williams-Sonoma train pan using Colette's Heavenly White Cake receipe. I decorated with gum drops and Christmas-colored M&Ms secured in place with a little buttercream. I made an 18" oval chocolate cake with chocolate icing and spread green-tinted coconut on top. I created a train track with black buttercream icing and placed the train on the tracks. I surrounded a plastic Santa with two Christmas decorated chocolate covered peanut butter Christmas "trees" and sprinkled "snow".
