I did these 3 cakes for a memorial service for a retired US Coast Guard Veteran. He passed away in June of this year. The Topsy Turvey Cake is white cake with BC icining and RBC accents, the 1/2 sheet cake is white cake with Lemon filling, all BC, and the small cake is carrot cake with cream cheese icing w/ BC accents. Thanks for looking!

This cake was for a sweet sixteen. The idea was from blog.pinkcakebox.com. I messed up on the middle tier by putting an extra layer but it was late at night as I was finishing it.

My first whimsical. I was really disappointed about how this cake turned out. There was a third layer that turned to mush! So I got rid of it. This was for a co-workers son who recently graduated. His school colors were brown and orange. All MMF top layer white, bottom layer devil's food. The mush bottom layer was carrot

This was the cake that I mentioned in a previous thread about the birthday girl calling to order her own cake and the mom called and wanted something smaller. This is the smallest topsy turvy I have ever done - 4" and 8", covered in fondnt with a fondant/fixodent 16 on top. Both tiers are chocolate fudge cake.

Another one of these cakes, only this one I had to do in 90+ degrees....it was horrible!!!! Hopefully the customer didn't think so!!! Word to the wise, if you do this cake and it's over 90 out do the whole thing in fondant LOL

The order was pretty simple - funky colours and one of those 'wonky' cakes. Other than that I could do what I wanted, as long as no age was mentioned anywhere on it! I was in tears in the early stage of this one, it was my first real disaster story. Came out OK in the end though. TFL!

lots of experimentation on this one! fondant definitely isn't my best medium, i can't get it smooth. especially the top cake is so lumpy! i used mmf for this cake. carved to get the whimsy look.
i'm pretty happy with my ribbon roses though.

My 1st Topsy Turvy!! Supposed to be all MMF but had to abandon that idea & go w/BC. Couldn't get the MMF to cooperate (user error for sure!). Found out carving cake was way more difficult than anticipated. All in all, I was really happy w/how it turned out. Bottom layer is WASC w/ strawberry filling. Middle layer is Super Yummy Chocolate Chip Cake w/choc-cream cheese filling. Top is Butter Pecan w/vanilla cream cheese. This is, by far, my favorite cake to date that I've done! Thanks for browsing.

This is my first topsy turvy and is for my daughters 13th b'day. She picked out the colors and flowers. When I had the bottom tier covered in MMF she cried. She was so happy. Then I got up early this moring and finished it for a big "suprise" to her and she was so happy!!!. Top tier white, middle chocolate and bottom red velvet with cream cheese icing.

Here's the cake with the candles. I was running out of time to get the cake ready before the party started, so I ended up getting two number 2 candles and dipping them in melted chocolate. Before the chocolate set, I place edible pearls on the numbers. I took long, straight candles I found at the grocery store, warmed them under warm running water, and twisted them. I had to use some of the melted chocolate under the numbers for them to stay standing. It looked okay. I liked the look sans candles....

2nd time making topsy turvy cake. All mmf, choc rasp cake w/ rasp flav icing. I had no problems with the bottom tier. But the top tier decided it was going to take a stance against me. The footprint size increased by about 25% by the time I was ready to plop it on top. The dense choc cake seemed too soft suddenly. But we made it through. This side of the picture looks alright, but another qtr of a turn, the cake looked a bit out of whack. I'm determined to succeed in making it turvy the way I want.

This is a cake I made for my niece's 16th birthday. She had a Hollywood theme. Cake is covered in white fondant, with colored fondant decorations. The film reel is from a party decorating set I purchased at a local party store.

I could weep! My first topsy-turvy cake, and instead of sculpting the cake to only appear wonky, I went with other method of just hoping the supports, supported. All was fine until I had to transport it, but then it fell apart, literally.
Only the top tier survived looking anything like the photo, the rest was a gooey mess. Still tasted good, and thankfully it was for my daughter's birthday.
Shows I've still got lots to learn, even if I can make a cake look pretty!!

This cake was for a Mad Hatter themed tea party bridal shower. I agreed to help some friends with it. They came over with the cakes already baked. It took 5 of us 5 hours to stack and decorate the cake. Everything is covered in fondant and all electric colors are used. The top tier is an upside down tea cup to complete the theme.

My first topsy turvey cake. It was very fun to make. All fondant and gumpast baby carriage. The cake was modeled after the invitations. I used the instructions from dailey. The two white cakes are styrofoam.

This is the pic of my first ever Whimsical cake! I colored the fondant myself, using Aqua, Violet, and Blue Pastes on the Wilton Ready-made white. The cake itself is vanilla chocolate swirl with homemade strawberry jam and vanilla icing.

This is a "rough draft" of a cake I am doing for my friend's surprise 50th birthday party. My first try at a topsy-turvy and I'm so glad I did a practice cake first, as I've already learned a lot!! The tiers are 10"-8"-6", first bottom two are 3 layers, the top is 4.

This cake a girl found on the internet & wanted it for her sweet 16. She brought me a picture which was difficult to follow and this was what I could decipher. It is fondant with whimsical ribbon roses, little baby carnation type flowers, ribbons. It is a topsy turvey Art Deco Cake. The red fondant on the bottom layer cracked as it was such a big piece, but I managed to hide it with the flowers. There was a handle on top of the cake she showed me & I changed for a 16. She was thrilled when she saw it.

My 13 year old daughter designed every aspect of this cake. She drew it out, chose the colors and everything. So proud of her!!!! I need to put her to work! Also my first topsy turvy cake.

This is my first topsy turvy cake and my first time working with fondant. My friends husband asked me if we could leave the top layer off, so that it could be carried to her with a candle during "Happy Birthday." I would appreciate any feedback.
