This is my first topsy turvy cake and first MMF cake. I loved this cake but was it ever had! I did this for a friends 50th Birthday! I did this FREE! I knew I would get business from this that is why I did it free.

This was accomplished ONLY with the help of Phoov. The bride found Phoov's cake here on CC and showed it to me, asking if I would make her wedding cake to look just like that. Well, I emailed Phoov and asked if she mind that I copy it, and if she was willing to share instructions. Well, she done more than that. Phoov, was such an encourager, she is the GREATEST. I believe this was her design originally, isn't it the neatest? THANK YOU PHOOV!!!!! {{{{HUGS}}}} - Ellie

7" and 4" tiers make up my first attempt at a topsy-turvy cake. This was done in a big hurry for my niece after her birthday celebration was delayed when her sister had to have an emergency appendectomy. It is all butter cream except the heart plaque, which is MMF.

I made this cake for my Grandmother's 70th Birthday Party. It was "Alicia" in Wonderland themed with the head table being the madhatter's tea party. Each layer was a different flavor (white, red velvet, lemon). the cake was frosted in BC and all the decorations were fondant.

Wilton 2007 design. Chocolate cake with Dream Whip Icing.

I couldn't get it as smooth as I wanted and I made a mistake with the yellow swirls over the pink icing. But overall, I'm happy with the cake, and it tasted good. The birthday girl loved it as well

Yellow cake with dulce de leche filling. My daughter designed this cake, she picked the colors and design. This is my very first time making a whimsical cake and I must say that it was the easiest cake I ever made, I was very scared of making this cake, but the technique was easier than I anticipated and I'm happy with the results.

This was a special cake for a special 5 year old with CP. He loves football and his aunt wanted him to have a fun, wacky shaped cake with things jumping out of it. Cake covered in mmf, hand painted, royal icing trails painted with gold luster dust. This took a long time...but it was fun and I was pleased. She shapes jumping out are chocolates from a Rams mold and other fun football shapes.

This was my County fair entry. I was inspired of course by Collette Peter's new book. I spent many many hours working on this cake. It only won third place but I Love it anyway:)

This is my many first attempts cake. First time w/ MMF, first time w/ topsy-turvy cake, first w/ 2 tier cake, first w/ marbling fondant. The bottom tier is rice crispy, it would have been too much cake if I had did them both cake. The top tier is half yellow butter and half butter pecan w/ cream cheese filling and crumb icing. All accents are MMF as well as cake covering on both tiers. I am not very happy w/ the cake. I couldn't get the draping yellow MMF edge to be smooth. Appreciate any tips and advice.

Believe it or not...this cake was actually designed by the 12 year old girl herself! She did a colored drawing of exactly what she wanted!

By total accident I have a topsy turvy cake. My cake sank! It's all decorated in BC and accented with a Fondant Ghost, Tombstone, Bat and Pumpkin. The Fall leaves on the tree are candy sprinkles individually placed but the green ones are BC. I ran out of icing to color in different colors,.. it was an afterthought. The Ghost, Tombstone, Bat and Spider/Webs are all accented with Silver Luster Dust. Enjoy the photo,.. it was fun to make and the kids can't wait to eat it!

This is my lame excuse for a topsy turvey cake. Never made one before and next time it'll have to be more cake! Did a "formal" cake for my oldest DD and then surprised her at college on her birthday with this one. It's three small layers of yellow cake; covered in vanilla BC. It was fun and tasted good but the best part was the look on her face!!! Thanks for looking.

This was my first attempt at the "topsy-turvy" cake. At least it didn't fall over!!! :) Fondant accents, web is buttercream, and spiders are a 50/50 mix of gum paste and fondant (so they would dry hard enough to stand up). Fun cake to make and lots of leasons learned on this one!

This is my attempt at a topsy-turvy cake. DH's 30th birthday and he LOVES chocolate. Something went wrong, somewhere, though. I think I put the middle layer too far out, it collapsed after awhile. Better luck next time! Top and bottom layers chocolate with praline filling, middle layer is cheesecake cake with dulce de leche filling. Thanks for looking!

This is the third or fourth topsy turvy Dora cake I have done in the last few months - all for 3 year old girls. I keep trying to do them a little bit different so they all don't look identical. I really enjoyed this one. All mmf. Choc and yellow cakes. The birthday girly squealed when I dropped it off, so I guess that was a good sign. Thanks for looking!

This was my first atempt at a topsy-turvy cake. This was for a birthday party at a club in Vegas. The little figurines I made are of the birthday people. The theme for the party was "Let's get physical, 80's work out gear" that's why the figurines are in leotards. The DJ's who's party it was are house music DJ's hence the theme of the cake. The records and music notes are all made of chocolate.

Baby Shower cake with a custom made (non-edible) topper designed to look like the mommy-to-. I still haven't figured out how exactly to get my angles to work right, but this was only my 2nd whimsy cake.
