My first attempt at a topsy turvy cake. Not great, riddled with flaws but overall I was quite pleased and everyone was wowed. What do you think?

I used white icing and whipped it maybe a bit too much...I couldn't help the holes in the icing but, the birthday girl designed this cake (even bigger!!) but, they weren't needing to feed more then 20-30 (yes, this is all cake! Good luck, guys hehe.) Gumpaste roses, ribbons and numbers/letters and fondant extras TFL!

This cake was done for a bridal shower, and the wedding colors are pink and lime green. It was three tiers made covered in buttercream with fondant accents. The cake topper was made for wire that I curled and added balls of fondant.

There's enough icing on here that the topsy turvy isn't very clear, but this was just a quick cake since DH asked about having one, even though he'd already had one last week. Chocolate cake, used up class leftovers of chocolate and tinted icing. Piping the icing on with a narrow tooth star looked good, though a basketweave tip might have been better. Big rosettes looked like roses -- rather feminine, but fast.

This cake was for my 12 year old daughter's birthday. The two two patterns are from scrapbook paper she picked out for making her invitaions. (One of which was also used on the cake board.) All decorating done in buttercream.

I made this for my 22nd birthday yesterday. It was my first whimsical/topsy-turvy cake, my first gumpaste bow, my first time molding RKT and carving it to shape and the first time making the rolled flowers. I wanted to try a cake like this and I figured I might as well do it for my own b-day this way if I screwed it up I wouldn't be ruining someone elses cake. The cake was iced in buttercream and the decorations are fondant and gumpaste. Please let me know what you think and thanks for looking!

I was asked to make a two tier topsy turvy white cake with a big 40 on top and ruby/pink accents. Hopefully they will like it! It's a variation of a Lindy Smith design but with fewer flowers and roses and butterflies added.

Topsy-Turvy made of white cake, chocolate filling, crumb-coated with BC and covered with MMF. All decorations are MMF, except the top hat, which is rice crispies and marshmellows, topped off with plastic stars.

This is the first Topsy Turvy cake I have ever done. Thanks to all who answered my questions and thank you especially to JKalman for detailed instruction! It is iced all in BC with MMF circles, dots, and balls. This was for my oldest son's 5th grade graduation from his Catholic Grad School- edible photo of the class on the middle tier.

Thanks to Bkeith for the article on how to do these! Colors came from a napkin the party planner gave me. I used the PME cutter plunger for the gerbera daisy and followed the tutorial on gefjonsdottir . com (no spaces) Except I used a wilton daisy cutter for the center frilly part. I messed up on her face but didn't want to redo the hair and bonnet (which I loved) so I made do. Next time I am doing the stupid eyes first!

Inspired by EmmasCakes, my friend asked for a topsy-turvy and left the rest up to me, with minor requests. I've always wanted to do the tall pearl cake by Emma, so I used the opportunity to make this modified version in gold luster dust (I mixed super-gold with old-gold). I painted it on, but now I am definitely in the market for an airbrush!

Client wanted a topsy turvy cake for her daughter's first birthday. This is my first. Rainbow bit cake with almond buttercream icing and MMF. Found the MMF to be hard to smooth around the tiers, I find it so tough even when warmed up a little in the microwave and using oil...

My first topsy turvy (& first fondant cake) for a friend's daughters' 14th birthday. I had fondant issues and bulging on the lower tier (thank goodness for ribbon!). I have since researched fondant techniques on cc and think I know what I did wrong! The two tone curly ribbons were easy and fun, my 7 year old daughter helped wrap them around drinking straws! The recipient was thrilled.

Thank you Shantel575 for your design inspiration and help/advice with this cake! It was a fun challenge, but I was stressing when it came time to actually stack it--but it worked. Whew! I used 10", 8" and 6" squares--Vanilla cake with chocolate BC filling--pink BC frosting with fondant accents.

This cake was made for my cousin...topsy turvy 4" 6" 8" with tapered tiers (3 layers each). Fondant covered with fondant accents and fondant balls on silver wire out the top. Words on middle tier say Inspire Dream Believe. BIG thanks to those who gave advice on the design and especially to jkalman for her awesome directions on doing this style of cake. Mine didn't turn out as beautiful as hers but it would have been a wreck without her guidance!

My very first wedding cake, made for one of my very best friends. It survived the 1-1/2 hour flight to Vegas, *almost* intact, yeah! She liked a cake by SweetHope that I used for inspiration. 10" Garash in 12 tortes at tallest and 6 at shortest point, 8" white w/ vanilla SMBC in 4 tortes, 6" flourless walnut in 8 tortes w/chocolate rum SMBC, all covered in Choco-Pan, with 50/50 fondant/gumpaste pearls, swirls, ribbon roses and hearts topper. This TT cake is not carved level and has NO supports!

This was my first attempt at a topsy turvy cake. I was so nervous. On the top is a fondant "toddler's pool" with water pouring out and down the cake. The party was a seasame street water party. I hope you enjoy!
