I saw Antonia74's cake, and thought I would try it. Mine certainly isn't as nice looking, but it was fun to try!

Made for a friend's brother. Bottom white cake, middle choc, top combo of the two! Bc icing w/mmf decos and gp 30. The mmf is shiny because the cake had been in the freezer prior to construction and decoration so it's got some condensation! Still learning alot about the construction of these buggers too!

This was a really fun cake to make, and it went much better than the last TT I made. I had to transport this cake fully assembled b/c the dad was meeting me halfway...so this cake travelled for 2 hours and held up fine! Phew!! The top tier was a dummy tier, with a "16" on the top.

This was my son's first birthday cake. I've been wanting to do this style cake since the day he was born and finally the day came! I'm satisfied with the way it turned out... many things went wrong but I learned from them... not sure if I'll ever attempt this again (maybe for $1000 haha)... his matching smash cake is in front.

Fairly pleased, I see all my mistakes..It definitely could have been smoother.. and I used the tricks....It was a bugger trying to get stacked.. Don't understand why thta is so difficult.

For a friend who loved my other tiki cake, but wanted LOTS of chocolate and topsy-turvy. I fell in love with modeling chocolate! Used it for the tiki gods. Then used candy melts to pipe the face details. Pirouette cookies around the base, lots of chocolate buttercream and whipped ganache. Gumpaste hibiscus on top. A little gold luster dust on the tikis & plaque.

This was for my nieces birthday, she had a glow in the dark mini golf pary and she wanted a tie dye cake. So I did bright colors on the outside and the inside was all tie dyed. She loved it and it looked really cool under the black lights. It was my first time working with rolled buttercream, and I think it could have been better, but they still picked it off!

This is the baby close-up. This is the cake I wrote about yesterday
that was cracking. Thanks to my genius friend, loree01, it was saved.
She had the idea to wrap it in wax paper and that's what we did and left it
until delivery. The cake made the trip in one piece and held up when the paper was removed. WHEW!! Thanks loree01

Monkey was made out of rice krispies and covered in apricot preserves (glue) and then covered in fondant. Cake was also covered in fondant.

I couldn't be more proud of how well this came out! Not only was this my first tiered cake, but it was also my first Whimsical/Topsy Turvy cake...AND my first time using fondant!!! I am so excited! The inside is White Chocolate Pound Cake w/ Chocolate BC and I used Rhonda's MMF recipe for all the rest. This is for my MIL's birthday party tonight, and she has no idea that I'm bringing a cake...I hope she loves it!

Bottom tier was strawberry wine cake and top tier was chocolate fudge both with fondant. This was for a lady who really was not happy about her 40th birthday and her best friend who was throwing the party wanted something fun and light -- nothing over the hill.

Ok - we'll call this one a learning expierience! LOL I had never made a whimsey cake before, so I thought I would try one for my birthday. I made the MMF the day of decorating, instead of letting it rest overnight, so it was soooo soft and hard to work with - and how the heck to do go from a big top to the small bottom without getting pleats in the MMF??? Anyway, learned a lot with this one - maybe I will try again someday. Yellow cake, MMF and buttercream decorations.

I did these 3 cakes for a memorial service for a retired US Coast Guard Veteran. He passed away in June of this year. The Topsy Turvey Cake is white cake with BC icining and RBC accents, the 1/2 sheet cake is white cake with Lemon filling, all BC, and the small cake is carrot cake with cream cheese icing w/ BC accents. Thanks for looking!

This cake was for a sweet sixteen. The idea was from blog.pinkcakebox.com. I messed up on the middle tier by putting an extra layer but it was late at night as I was finishing it.

This was the cake that I mentioned in a previous thread about the birthday girl calling to order her own cake and the mom called and wanted something smaller. This is the smallest topsy turvy I have ever done - 4" and 8", covered in fondnt with a fondant/fixodent 16 on top. Both tiers are chocolate fudge cake.

Another one of these cakes, only this one I had to do in 90+ degrees....it was horrible!!!! Hopefully the customer didn't think so!!! Word to the wise, if you do this cake and it's over 90 out do the whole thing in fondant LOL

The order was pretty simple - funky colours and one of those 'wonky' cakes. Other than that I could do what I wanted, as long as no age was mentioned anywhere on it! I was in tears in the early stage of this one, it was my first real disaster story. Came out OK in the end though. TFL!

lots of experimentation on this one! fondant definitely isn't my best medium, i can't get it smooth. especially the top cake is so lumpy! i used mmf for this cake. carved to get the whimsy look.
i'm pretty happy with my ribbon roses though.
