This is a chocolate cake covered in cherry buttercream and then decorated with fondant. The bottom cake is circle and the top is an oval. Tinkerbell is done with Royal Icing in Wilton's "color flow" method. Everything but the candles were edible and the 4 year olds LOVED it!

Although it doesn't quite look like the young Tinkerbell, it still looks like a fairy. Gumpaste fairy in buttercup. All MMF. Red Velvet w/ cream cheese filling. For a 13 year old. Fairy was not easy, nor hard. I would have liked more realistic extremities. We are our own worst critics! Cake bulged around the mid, used as class demonstration on fondant covering cake and board, in new Wilton Fondant/Gumpaste class. Got excited and pull down too much.

This cake was done as a dummy cake...only to be looked upon by the party goers! It was a definite challenge, but very rewarding in the end.

I had planned to do a color flow image but I was sick and didn't get it done in advance. It took calling 5 bakeries before I found one that would sell me the Tinkerbell topper. None of our local supply stores have extended Saturday hours. As you can see, I'm not great on icing buttercream smooth. I tried the old dip the knife in hot water trick but apparently that just causes it to crack. I was happy with my royal icing flowers.

I made this cake for my niece's 11th birthday. Tinkerbell is made from modeling chocolate. The present she is sitting on is a dummy, but all other layers are white with strawberry filling, iced in IMBC, covered in MMF. All other accents are gumpaste. Thanks for looking!

She's made out of modeling chocolate, the dress is gumpaste, the wings are parchment paper. She's sitting on a fondant covered box, the numbers and other accents are gumpaste as well.

Oh I had so much fun doing this one. I got the flower idea out of the galleries, but I didn't save the photo so I don't know who did it sorry! This was the first cake that I was unable to deliver myself and I was a nervous wreck until I heard it made it ok. I made it so that no parts had to be assembled on site, and that they didn't have to return any pieces to me (another challenge in itself) But I love this cake! I think it will be going near the top for my favorites.
