I've only been decorating cakes for a few months total, going on three months where I am now, and six years ago I worked in a Wal-Mart for a few months. I'm basically decorating until the bakery finds a professional decorator. An order for a "purple zebra striped two tier bavarian cream cake" made me panic a little, especially since I'd never covered a cake with fondant, let alone zebra striped fondant. This is the end result...I fixed tears around a few of the stripes with black buttercream smoothed in strategic spots, as well as a thick black fondant border around the bottom of the second tier.

This poor cake barely managed to survive. It was accidentally bumped (crowded bakery) and the roses along the middle of the cascade were smooshed. After that repair, the cake had to survive transport for 45 min. total, in and out of the heat of summer in Missouri, on the floor of the catering van across Missouri roads. (You never realize how terribly bumpy the roads are until every bump counts!!) The only thing NOT sugar free is the red icing the roses are made from.

This was a blue graduation cake that I made to go with another sheet cake. The kiddo wanted all shades of blue for their design. It was copied off of a picutre the family had found and wanted me to recreate.

This cake is all buttercream. I used a napkin with a design to rub over cakes for a design on the cake. The lady bug on the big cake is cake and on the smash cake the ladybug is icing.

Bottom tier is WASC with raspberry filling; top is chocolate with raspberry filling. I'm surprised this made it from home - to class - back home - to work. ha! Sorry about the poor photo quality. :-) Still have a lot to learn but I am so very proud!

6", 8", 10", 12" round cakes covered in satin ice fondant........hard to see but every other cake was painted with pearlized stripes. This cake was so tall on the glass blocks I could hardly get it all in the shot. I edited out the background because there were tons of balloons and I didn't care for the overall look. TFL

This is a 3 tiered fondant covered cake I helped my friend do for a 16th birthday. The hounds tooth is a transfer. I was cross eyed by the time I was done putting it on. This was one of those "learning cakes!!"

I made this cake for a friend of a friend's 50th birthday - so relived she liked it! Each tier represents a part of the birthday girls life. She loved horses as a child, so the bottom layer is horses. She raced chevelles, (2nd layer up), her time as a mother and grandmother (yellow tier), she became an EMT (2nd to top), and her motto is no matter what, when you have the choice to sit or dance, always dance! Sounds like a great lady.....
